These two sound pretty similar, with a droning hooky bass being the dominant instrument. Detached vocals on both, and some interesting drumming from Steve on both, with scratchy guitar by Barney. So which do you prefer?

24hrs is just too haunting to be denied. One of the saddest songs ever. Reminds me of a heartbeat flickering .

I do think Primitive notion is close to the best thing NO put out this decade. Lets say a return to their roots. Its shame they never played this out. I wish WFTSC sounded a bit more like this.

I went with Primitive Notion, though they're both pretty good tunes.

The easiest v's so far. 24 hours by an absolute mile. An absolute classic JD track vs average NO track.

Twenty Four Hours ... The lyrics describe the story of man whose life is slpping away ... One of the strongest Joy Division songs ...

24 Hours, absolutely no contest as far as I'm concerned. My favourite JD song,& has to be the most haunting bassline ever

I love these sorta polls.

Why on earth do we have them?

Comparing two totally unrelated songs for no apparent reason?!

Keep up the good work! :thumb:

I once read somewhere, think it was Mick Middles, that if asked to name a song that would define JD's sound, then he would say 'Twenty Four Hours',not that far off the mark imo.

Well, to answer you, I just found the droning bass lines to be similar. Some may feel Primitive notion is a throwback to JD. I at least will concur that it's pointless, but with no new NO news to talk about why not?

I voted for 24 hours, my favorite song of my favorite band. To my eyes, the best rock song, for ever. I would describe it full of internal tension, powerful feelings emprisonned in a body that can't express them, just like you can't neither shout nor event talk when you wake up because of a nightmare.

I disagree. :nono:

But as of lately, even though I love both songs, I'm in my Primitive phase...
