Since it will be stolen again, I think it has to be cheap. After all, Ian would probably appreciate the Morrison-like cult around him. It's just normal I think.
I mean I do know it's not right and I'm not justifying any robbering, but that's the world we live in 
But since a fruitless raid on a house in Winsford there have been no new clues as to its whereabouts.
I don't believe that - everyone in Winsford has something to hide!
New stones probably all look like that. It will look just like the old one in about 30 years.
This one will be cemented in. What a shame the old one was so easy to prise out. Something like that should lie forever without anyone even trying to steal it, but that's the world we live in.
The horrible bastards who took it would probably relish all the attention - why else would they do it?
For that reason, it's best to forget it and get on with honouring the new one.
Terrible shame though.
im being a bit thick here (nothing new) but why have both the stones engravings seemed to have been off centre? i always thought the original looked like slightly ropey workmanship, and they have gone and done the same with the replacement, im reffering to "us apart" shifted to the edge of the stone rather than being more central. just an observation that im sure will get plenty of feedback along thelines of "you are a twat because....."

could it be that the fonts of 'love will tear us apart' was too big and wouldn't fit on the same line, so it has to move on the next line over to the right. i dunno know... wtf

Don't mean to be a twat..but do you think Warner..stole it to release with some super definitive best of? They'll throw all those hannett mixes, and...40 minute recordings of hooky playing bass..and some offshoot commentary with steve..wow..I am indeed a jerk.
While I understand the need to replace the headstone, I think that if it had been left a little longer there could be a chance of the original being 'found' or returned. Now there is even less of a chance.
But as has been said previously, a few months of the great british weather will make it worn in.
It's so sad that it had to be replaced at all.

The font is too modern, may I say not Goth enough.
It's weird that the original hasn't surfaced by now - maybe the thief (or thieves) got scared and dumped it somewhere.
Anyhow - the old one is worthless now - it's more inportant that a marker is at his memorial space and is now firmly cemented down.

Local Authorities are replacing stolen grid covers with a plastic ones. Maybe this is the headstone equivalent?...
They should have commissioned Peter Saville to design a new stone. It just might be a bit late.
Why didn't they choose a real big stone, that can't be carried away? And who on earth is putting a stolen gravestone in his/her house or garden? 
I was hoping they would errect a 15 foot high bronze statue of Ian there, that would of been awesome and a big fuck you to the guys who robbed the stone, try and rob this you fuckers!!!!

Maybe the stone is booby trapped. A poison dart in the arse would serve the next would be robber right.
