Hey Shuggy... I won't be at the gig Saturday as I'll be hopefully trying to get a last-minute rehearsal (the first as well - seeing as none of the other NOOnliners are around to rehearse with me any earlier than this date!!) done with the (two?) bands whom I'm playing with on the tribute night itself - so it looks like I'm going to be running around like a headless chicken making sure we're sufficiently prepared - Even come the night, there's no guarantee our performance won't be a complete disaster given the amount of rehearsal we've done (ie = zilch)....

The two bands? The first is called Ice Cream Bandits and will feature a few NOOnliners like Liv, possibly Major, our resident muso Timbo on bass/guitar, myself (on keyboards) and my mate Darren from band Shep doing drumming duties...

The second is a noise-terror collective called No.1 Blue Murder with me on drums and two, or three, others on guitars and bass and lots of aggro.

Despite my anxieties about getting our act together in time for the gig, I'm looking forward to the Sunday's do very much - not least because it's another chance to meet up with you bunch of dysfunctional pissheads (and other new faces) one more time! ;) :D

I will be there Saturday (I arrive Thursday to MCR)but unfortunately got to be back at work Monday so won´t be able to get to the Tribute. Surely someone will tape it?

I'm up for Friday night boozing, will be partaking in all of Saturday's shenanigans but don't think I'll be making the Sunday night do, as hopefully I will be jetting off to the sunshine for my jollies, if all goes to plan......

Don't know about anyone else, but I'll probably be heading off to see Doves, unless there's anyone else my cohorts want to see. I wouldn't have minded seeing Elbow, but they're on a little bit too early, and I have little interest in watching Echo and the Bunnymen!

I am still officially billed as playing in TWO bands as I mentioned above, but it looks like there have been a few more of the usual predictable tossy old snags that comes with these kind of "last minute" affairs - namely other personnel not being available to hand as I initially hoped - plus myself not even having MADE A START on preparing all the backing tapes for my much hoped-for version of The Perfect Kiss that I so wanted to perform along with Timbo, Liv, Darren and A.N. Other. Simply because the mate who was supposed to be helping me out PROGRAMMING THE DAMNED THING TONIGHT!! has mysteriously (predictably, sigh...) done a runner and was not at home when I called round earlier as arranged. Which now only leaves tomorrow as the only day left to get my shit together: all dependent on this "friend" being there to sort it out with me. As if this saga isn't convoluted enough, I actually have a PLAN B to ensure I have at least something to present on the night with regard to this particular song - namely a good cyber-pal from Cleveland (who is kind and gracious enough to help us out - he also posts on my other forum) who has offered to help programme the song ON-LINE - believe it or not! - then upload it for me to download and save as a AIFF file that I can then burn onto a CD to use as the FINISHED BACKING TRACK on the night! So far so good then.....but no start has been made on EITHER strategy yet...so I'm still waiting with baited breath.

Had a very long phone chat with Alex The Red just earlier explaining the difficulties faced with herding all my stock back into the paddock, so to speak - except that two of them (from No.1 Blue Murder) cannot be there for various reasons, and one of them who CAN (Darren, the drummer) has to do a gig with HIS OWN BAND ON THE VERY SAME NIGHT IN MACCLESFIELD!! TALK ABOUT SHEER BAD TIMING OR WHAAAT???!!! - so that means he can only be there for the first of my bands but NOT the second (the one he was supposed to be in!!!). Which then poses the logistics of being in a band with just a drummer and a hired hand on bass (which may or may not even be guaranteed on the night!) So it looks as if No.1 Blue Murder's version of "Truth" (ironically the easier of the two to pull off seeing as it would have just been guitar/bass/drums) may be played solo (by me) or not played at all..... harrrumph.... :( :(

Don't be surprised if you get dizzy with confusion just from reading all of the above..... you can imagine just how much my head is spinning from it all....... :( :( :(

I am going to be there on Saturday but I will also be early at the ground. Sports stadium, get there early is my motto. Otherwise they'll put those bastard barriers up, security guards, dos, cops et all and au revoir, its all over. You're out of the picture and thats that. I would love to meet up with you early on but you know, me and barriers, well, I'm not the luckiest or the most springheeled of jims that there is.

Got a couple of mates who are coming to stay with me when they go and see Paul Weller on Friday, and they've put a bit of a spanner in the works about Friday night with their fannying about....gonna try my hardest to get out boozing with you lot though. Coupla quick questions: do we need tickets for the Roadhouse thing, or can I just turn up on the night? And does anyone know Old Trafford's policy on cameras, ie: is it very civilised a la Finsbury where I can just stroll in with me bog standard photie-taker, or (sensitive folk look away now!!) do I have to shove it down me kecks lest I get stopped and searched??????

Think you should be okay with a standard camera - I took mine last year when I went to Old Trafford to see a certain podgy ex-boyband member from Stoke.....:o
