I've wondered about that.
The original logo looked something like this:

with typography that said either "(new) order" or "new (order)" - I forget which.
The sleeves for this set are going to be a zip file bundle with detailed instructions for how to make them yourself - I'm not about to assemble them all. This is a totally DIY project, and with a decent color printer, the right type of paper, and paper-friendly project glue that doesn't cause wrinkling, it won't be difficult to do at all. It'll take an afternoon to finish it.
At first I was thinking about building a custom-sized box from heavy mat board, but in keeping with the recycle theme I'm going to look online and see if I can find something made of plastic. I'd then print the recycle logo and name on clear sticker/transfer material and attach it to the top.

It'd be good to keep the barcodes off of these sleeves...they tend to look messy unless they are an integral part of the design...

Well, I had initially offered to help a few post back by asking for someone to send me 600dpi scans since I work in the printing business and do a lot of digital restoration for photos and posters, but £50 Note has already shown that he will be doing the art work on his own with very promising results.
Now, if someone sent me scans of the middle vinyl groove artwork, I could even clean those up and have them professionally lazer printed on silver backed CDs to make them look like the original vinyl records. Each disc would cost me less than a dollar to set up and print.
But since you're going to be such a negative Nancy (pun intended), I'll go ahead and join in on your posts and pretend to look like I'm doing something constructive for this project by creating the design for my bonus CD.
So here it is, art work inspired directly by -1's incompetent and largely redundant mock up art posts. Pics are low rez, pulled straight off the internet and are expected to be highly pixelated when printed at 4.75 size.

talk is cheap..
especially if you expect print copies from low-rez mockups? even the one from 50P?
why don't you actually put up something you'd use, and then we could see if its worth it.
heck, if its good enough, i'd pay, because i don't want to print them myself..
do you have any ideas on how to mock-up the box? that's what i'm working on now...
maybe you could give it a shot also..

I'm not exactly a graphic designer, but I work as a Lead Project Coordinator for a FedEx Office & Print Center. My job is essentially to overview incoming orders, set things up digitally to be print ready and manage whether production will be done in-store or to outsourced to bigger centers. There is a production center in my city that does lazer printed artwork onto CDs, then silver backed discs can be found from this vendor: http://www.ioproducts.com/index.html
We do photo restoration, but it's pricey. A dollar per minute with most stores forcing a $60 minimum payment. The process involves as scanning the photo into a 600dpi PDF file so it remains at it's original size, then using Photoshop CS3 to touch it up. CS3 makes this easy and it's almost like playing with a coloring book. This is why I originally asked for specific sized scans before £50 Note revealed that he would be reworking the artwork himself.
You told me to add something constructive, yet the past few posts you've made have been a bunch of Photoshopped album images pulled from the internet. £50 Note is already doing the artwork and doing a very excellent job on his own, so why are you even posting these? Of course I know they are not suitable for printing, that was overall joke of my last post. That and pointing out that you haven't added anything productive either besides clutter us with your artwork, much like how I clutter this forum with my sarcasm.

I too am enthused by this project, looking forward to it.

thanks for the details, sounds pretty cool ... looks like you'll have some pretty awesome looking covers..
i had to post those to show what i was talking about alternate covers from my earlier posting..
it's a lot easier to see them in a picture, then it is trying to describe them... besides, i thought the 'confusion' cover looked so cool, that's why i responded..
so i haven't added anything productive? really? who are you to say, since you're not in charge of this project anyways....
50p has responded to my posts, so i think that's pretty good..
where did he respond to yours?

you could just leave it off, and skip over it..
it would save you 1 disc.
no one's going to miss it anyways.. especially re-member...

I know I'm not in charge of this project, nor am I even pretending to be. All I'm pointing out is that I had originally offered to help prior to you acting condescending and telling me to do something productive besides making joke. If my help is not needed, than that's fine since I trust it is in good hands.
In case you haven't noticed, there's been a handful of people joking about State of the Nation, with two dedicated threads in fact. If that bothers you, fine, just think twice before you ask people to do something more productive besides make cheesy jokes because it's just going to come back at you ten fold.
All you've done is pulled a handful of low rez images off the internet to post artwork while waiting for someone to pat you on the back for them. How is that contributing toward this project? It's not one bit. The artwork is being taken care of already. Your posts are as redundant as my jokes, but difference between the two is that people will laugh with me, not at me.

of course i noticed, so why are you cluttering up this thread even more with it?
that's really helpful [sarcasm]
like i suggested to 50P, leave it off the compilation, save 1 disc, and then you don't ever have to hear it, or see it..
How is that contributing toward this project?
ask 50p... he's the one the one that responded to SEVERAL of my points...see the blue monday cover, the temptation issue, the procession colors, etc... yeah, i'm sure he's laughing it up right now, (what do i care what anyone beside the project coordinator thinks?)
did you post the 'recycle' logo? did you correct the text for '(new)', or Order, when he asked?
i guess not, since you assumed it was already known..
The artwork is being taken care of already.
really? and we can't ask questions?
do you know how the embossing of the words temptation/hurt is going to be done?
why don't you look back at those 'low-res' pictures and answer, since you know..
or you could just keep making fun of 'state of the nation', since you enjoy it so much..
at least i'm trying, compared to your oh so helpful comments..

Each of the original Factory singles will have it's own CD, collecting every official 7" mix, 12" mix, and B-side. All promo remixes/edits will be included as well, and possibly even a live version here and there.
Things like the 1990 Minimal Records remixes of Confusion will be included. The 808 State acid house mixes may or may not.
Each CD will have a slipcase that faithfully replicates/restores the original artwork:
Once that's finished - Ceremony through World In Effin' Motion - then I'll consider doing the post 1990 singles, but I am NOT a fan of 90's remixes, plus, in most cases there's too many to fit on one CD (hello, Blue Monday 95).
Warners should have you on the pay roll!
