What would you like on the State of the Nation (Collectors Edition) bonus disc?

I'm hoping 2 Unlimited can be coaxed from retirement for a promo-only "Y'all Ready For This?" remix.

Don't forget to revive those republic tracks, World(price f love) mix by Robert Miles, Ruined in a day by S club 7, and back on topic, Interstate of the nation, remixed by John Robie.

So does this special edit remove the first synth line ala Blue Monday?

Actually, I'll be the first to admit here that this is my favorite of all the John Robie produced singles. I remember there was a series of best song polls a few years back and everyone stated their hatred toward this song, but I like it. The chorus is a bit cheesy, but I like the rest of the lyrics.

State of the Nation has been ignored for too long... well, maybe for a good reason.

Thank you, I just spit a bite of my sandwich at the screen. :D

I actually like Shame Of The Nation, and tossed it into a 6-hour DJ set last month.

But still.

I supposed we could hope for Blue Monday '08. How about Spooky '08?

After Blue Monday '95 I wouldn't be surprised, if an 08 remix would retain anything of the original. Perhaps, if by some chance of fate it'll be mixed by oh...I don't know Alan Wilder it could be worth it. But Spooky, thank heavens atleast for me is republics forgotten child. And with good reason, the voice in the beginning makes me cringe. If sppoky was to be remixed, it would be by the likes of Tiesto or Ian Van Dahl, and would go on for 12 hours.

BASS MECHANIC YEEEEEARGH!

You know what? Martin Buttrich's promo remix of Everything's Gone Green (released alongside the WFTSC mixes in 2005) is the best rework that's ever been done of a NO song. It retained the feel that made the original song so special in 1981, while bringing it into a fully modern context. Every time I drop it on a dancefloor the crowd goes nuts. I have no idea why it wasn't officially released, but then they got nominated for a Grammy for Guilt Is A Useless Emotion and that never got a proper single release, either.

Oh, Rob Gretton. We miss you so much. You whipped the band into shape, and they've been aimless without you.

If we had to slog through '08 remixes of any track it may as well be The Perfect Kiss. I want to hear that redone by Rex The Dog, Justice, Jody Den Broeder, DFA, and CSS.

Yeah, Rex did that incredible remix of Photographic. He's also done killer remixes for Prodigy, The Knife, and Soulwax. His original choons are great as well.

The EGG remix is a promo-only thing. If you can't find it online I can hook you up. it'll also be on my reissue of WFTSC.

to me

state of the nation > shellshock

shellshock was ok, and kinda moody, but there were just parts of it that dragged on and on...

state of the nation, while not great, was acceptable for having better lyrics to me, and a differnt sound than what they had done before....

and i liked the cover better too..
