How the fuck was this thread mis-construed as a fan project - unless the subject title has been altered. If not, -1 (or 'less than zero' in my household:evil4: )deserves some apologies.

BTW, I voted for 75 quid but FFS, too many options regarding sleevenotes etc.

It was amended to COMMERCIAL Pete - thus avoiding confusion later in the thread. Sorry if any offence was caused -1 but I'm sure you could see where I was coming from.

I have no qualms with anyone making this themselves, fcuk the record companies, how many times have we been ripped!?!

But if a fan does put it together - and no doubt several of us would contribute, it would have to be free for all fans.

And I'd be first in the queue to help (and receive obviosly)

An official release..... I would gladly trade in Retro and give them a fiver.

In which case I stand erected. Apologies all round

There's no fookin' way there could be any justification of charging £150 for any kind of boxset,no matter how fookin' fantastic it is,or if it's by my favourite band. You want people to buy it for fooks' sake, all this would do is make it collectable, therefore making all the money-grabbing no-fans to put it on ebay & try & rip people off. It has to be realistically affordable :nono:

Altho',at £150,you'd be getting ripped-off in the first place

he isn't firing up a factory in his basement and cranking these out.....

He's tried before....... and those with long memories will be only too aware of -1's obsession with knocking out an alternative box set etc. We never hear from the cunt until someone mentions a box set, then he's all over the place like flies over shit.

not a problem.. i expected there to be some resistance to this topic...

as its been a heated issue before..

i find it funny how on a 'new order' board..

which is full of complaints about the official products that get released..

when someone one wants to do something better than the actual releases, and get it done right people get all worked up/offended/up in arms...

it's almost like you want sub-par releases, just so you (ie: the people that like to complain) feel like you have a justification to gripe about every little detail..

but if something actually got done, you wouldn't have anything to complain about anymore..

ironic isn't it?

don't worry, now that new order is a 'dead' band, there really isn't much left to do with their music..

that's why this would be a crowning achievement to close out their careers.

and once its done, and done right, a lot of people would disappear, since they would have nothing left to talk about or get...

later -1

I appreciate that you're not wanting to rip the band off, Warners may not though, and I can just see them stepping in with typical overkill to quash this and indeed the whole site.

Because everyone is entitled to their opinion, that's why. We won't all necessarily agree on the subject matter raised here, but to merely delete the thread would smack of dictatorship.

My opinion is that I have no problem at all with people making their own compilations of recorded and released material for their own use. I also think you shouldn't go distributing this material to others though, whether for free or charging money, unless you want the record company breathing down your neck. Yes of course we've all got all or most of the records already, in which case we can all make our own compilations. My bottom line though is if you don't have a particular record or mix, buy the record, they are all available. Yes of course we all know that Warners are masters of screwing the products up and releasing sub-standard products that don't meet our requirements, that is where we have to do our own compilations etc, but as I say, do your own, don't get it off someone else.

i guess what Tim wants to say is "be careful" and at the same time he's trying to defend this site from being closed down in case Warner wants to do something about this project. it's not about the project per se, i'm sure. i've been involved in a former -1 project before (international 2?) and it worked just fine as we distributed it in chains. maybe we should continue talking about this in the Ceremony mailing list so it can be a little more private? it would be a good excuse to bring it back to life too. just an idea ;)
