On he walked with his handbag????? silly suit and usual pretentious twaddle (It's hard not to swear when talking about him). He got all the stick he deserved especially before New Order came on. BUT would we all have been there if it wasn't for him? Ok even he could't claim all the credit (then again he might try) for the way Manchester has produced a lot of the greatest bands in the world in the last 25 years. But can it be a coincidence that he was involved with so many of the things that made Manchester a great musical city (See 24Hr PP)? Would New Order have been around today if they'd had to put up with the demands of a major label contract early in thier career? (They did sign to London but on thier own terms). Yes he may be a (insert expletive) but personally I think Mancunians, New Order fans and all the bands inspired by it all have a lot to thank him for.

I agree. Even if he is a twat, he is in fact ultimately responsable for most of it. The glory of it all... and the debacle that ended it, too!
As I mentioned over at WIM, I stood next to Wilson side of stage throughout the set and it's true that he wept when the band played Atmosphere & LWTUA. The truth about Tony is that none of us would have been there were it not for him and despite the Comme De Garcon suits and pretentious twaddle he oft comes out with, the man is quite simply a genius...
I totally agree with JONO ,for it was SO IT GOES that got it to change my listening habits at the time. Also the BRITISH have a great way of treating people that DO fantastic things. They can't wait to slag them off at the earliest opportunity.Remember even PETER WATERMAN for all his money ALWAYS says that IF the ARTIST gets big those behind the scenes are usually derided, forgotten about or blamed. The GROUPS or ARTISTS are NEVER in the wrong.Don't think i am having a pop at NEW ORDER,i am just defending MR WILSON.Without him i would not be posting my SHITE on this forum today or own the ninth wonder of the WORLD.
Long live ROCK and ROLL.

Nothing against Wilson whatsoever, still enjoyed booing and hissing him though.....he expects it![]()
Tony Wilson I think understands that he now the villain of the piece in the story of Factory , JD and NO. It was a kind of pantomime booing, coming on in the usual big black raincoat.
I agree that without him, they would not be where they are today.
He always is in interview desperately passionate about JD and NO and I believe him. I think sometimes his sincerity and honesty in interviews makes him look like a twat as he has now been branded. That must hurt.
But that handbag ....... ![]()
