Germans and the Brits must be similar in their tastes. GR hit no. 6 in the UK and no. 7 in Germany land - an ammicable result.

Pat, dear Pat... It was a difficult moment in time, but I know how annoying it is when someone can't decide what's best - so I did. Turn My Way and Run Wild are 2 strong, outlandish mythical beasts in the Order land - which you'd have to agree, is densely populated. I'm picking Run Wild, its picked, my cards are on the table and in my opini-onion, is just gorgeous. It makes me want to cry... which is not an easy thing to say, when your serious.

Pat, I hope I haven't severed any ties with you on this one. If your pipping TMW above all else, then the flame of choice burns beautifully for you also.

Yo man, i'm not too surprised that they entered the Top Ten. As usual, the hardcore fans buy the album in the first week of release. Let's wait for next week's chart...but to be honest, surprisingly the german record company did a damn good job in promoting NewOrder. A lot more than they did with "Republic". Germans and brits the same taste in music ??? I don't think so, the brits have a bit more taste i guess. In Germany you can dream of "Ash" entering the Top 20 singles charts...

Some more comments on "Get Ready" ??? Well, well, well. I've been non-stop listening. And yes, it's a grower ! I really do like almost every track on it, even "Slow Jam". "Crystal" the album edit is much more wicked and better than the radio version. "Run Wild" has grown on me too, especially for Barn's melodica playing, reminds me of "Your Silent Face" and "Love Vigilantes". I know a lot of people will hate me now, but the track i'm not listening too much at the moment is "Turn my way"...i'm so sorry... But somehow i seriously doubt that "60 mpH" is going 2 be the second single..."Close Range" would be a much better choice!

Lightning Seeds ??? I owned the first album, but after that it all went bloody downwards...the only thing that i remember is the NoelGallagher hairdo...

Huntsman, you'd have to do something far worse than preferring Run Wild to TMW to make me angry with you. Anyway, as I've said before, I do like RW, and being moved to tears by one or more of the songs on GR is an experience I've had and it's definitely a valid ground for preference. For me Close Range is also high up in emotional content.

sorry, but GR is nowhere near as good as REPUBLIC. it lacks the varied style of its predecessor. on REPUBLIC each and every song had its distinctive beat and atmosphere. and it was a demonstration of stephen hague's songwriting and producing abilities. but what we get on GR is a rock album with hardly any surpises. Most songs are much of a muchness. "Turn my way" and "Crystal" stand out and they're not very good either. Who knows what direction Stephen Hague would have plumbed for. Maybe it has to grow on me, maybe not. But for the time being, GR was a letdown. :(

'Republic' over 'Get Ready'? mmmm... incomprehenisble to me. Stevey the boy Hague must have used about 2 million gallons of muck to water down the gritty, cool, New Order sound on Republic. Just listen to the 'toy town' piano on 'World' - disgusting. I can imagine that he came in to the basic tracks and said, no, fuck it, get rid of the decent bass drums, lob Hooky out the back door and send Steve to play with the dog. Gillian, you sit there and say nothing. I'll get my bontempi out and cover the songs with sugar. I'm only going to leave once the album is unrecogniseable as a genuine NO product and sounding more like sugar pop Jones.

Tas has his right to deny the power of 'Get Ready' - after all, we all can't be right can we?
