Does anyone know when the recalled remasters might be errrr...re-re-mastered and re-released? I'm holding off buying them until the hopefully improved versions appear. I onder if Rhino took a financial hiding, having to recall the stock that was already out there. Tough shit if they did as they should've done a better job to begin with!

The old stock is still out there in the shops - I don't think they've spent a penny on recalling the actual stock that is on the shelves. As Johnny James said, they will probably not be re-done until the first batch has completely sold out (which, ironically, will happen much slower now that all the major press has picked up on the news).
Of course it will cost them money, but one can assume that next to nothing was spent on these in the first place, as it seems they didn't employ anybody to LISTEN to the CDs before they went to the shops (not to mention the sparse packaging with no new photos, no track info, etc etc). Also, Rhino/WB were informed of the problems BEFORE the worldwide release, but they decided to go ahead anyway and send out faulty CDs, hoping nobody would notice. We can only say "Told you so!" so many times - when will these guys learn to listen?
Interestingly, the Rhino UK website doesn't even mention the Collectors Editions. Kind of speaks for itself.
I was in a relatively small fry HMV in Hammersmith at lunchtime today and at least three of the reissues were still on sale for £19 a piece. The label has made no effort to recall them as indiearchivist says.
If the repaired versions are released in a timely manner (I.e. before summer or even before 2010) I will be seriously impressed. I know New Order don't generate much revenue for Warners but if they can't be arsed producing a quality reissue then there should have been no reissues at all. Everything about them screamed tightness from the lack of care taken in the audio transfers to the complete lack of photography and info in the booklets. To think lesser bands of the same era get lavish packages with complimentary DVDs etc.
As Hooky mentioned in one of his blogs, Claude Flowers agreed to take on the responsibility of "sorting out this mess". I would imagine he'll be looking for better master sources for the audio as an immediate concern.
I'm sure everyone here would be interested in helping with whatever they can on that front. You never know what some people have tucked away in their collections especially the Sultan of Bling.
Who wants a batch of photos and a detailed track-by-track breakdown?? That's not New Order's style and never has been.
I bought two of these reissues (movement and PC&L) and honestly don't know what all the bitching's about. The audio flaws are very, very, very minor. Still unacceptable to have any flaws from something that's supposed to be a professional record label, I agree, but it's not like the reissues I have are complete dogshit.
The packaging for both was well done, too. It would suck if they just jammed a bunch of extra shit onto the booklet for no good reason. It would be totally against the minimalist feel and integrity of the artwork.
This spring is rumoured to be the street date for another major NO related release - the remaining tracks from the Siren's sesions. So it could make sense to do something with the re-issues v2 around a similar time to make the most of any promotional work.
Hooky appears to be piggy backing this with the Freebass album and Hacienda book release dates lined up for spring also.

It was my understanding that the Hacienda book release will be around October? Ages away. 
I'd love the Sirens stuff - plus that rumoured Monaco V.2 compilation - plus of course Freebass and Bad Lieutenant. We'll see.
