New Order man guests on new Crystal Method album

The Crystal Method have recruited a star-studded cast of contributors on their new album 'Divided By Night'.

New Order bassist Peter Hook, Matisyahu, former Grandaddy frontman Jason Lytle and Metric frontwoman Emily Haines are among the artists who have contributed to the Los Angeles electronic duo's latest effort, due out in the US on May 12.

Matisyahu provides vocals on 'Drown In The Now', the album's first single, while Hook appears on 'Blunts & Robots' and 'Dirty Thirty'. Haines and drummer Samantha Maloney, formerly of Hole and Peaches, lend their talents to 'Come Back Clean'.

The Crystal Method have also announced that they will give their first live performance in five years on the first day of California's Coachella Festival, April 17.

So he's still messing about with other bands rather than concentrating on his own?

Sounds Peter Hook'ish, though I'd much prefer him (and willing to spend) on a New Order track.

Meh. I never liked Crystal Method. The Prodigy, Underworld and Chemical Brothers are much better.

Dirty Thirty sounds like bad ambient techno from 1995 with a reworked bassline fom a 60 miles an hour.

Actually it reminded me of KFMDM of the early 90s... with 60 miles an hour bass line that has been pushed too high on the tremble attached to it

Crystal Method is kinda baffling, have not bought their stuff so maybe i'm missing on something... but their beats never stand out to me, and their production style seems to be to avoid having a production style. They seem like a pale imitation of others. Like the Dave Matthews Band of electronica.

Do they get good festival slots in Europe or UK?

Any sounds from Hookys' bass is ALWAYS fine by me,gorgeous as ever
