Bizarre Love Triangle questions

Been listening to the Bizarre Love Triangle track quite a lot lately. Always liked the track a lot but somehow it just keeps popping up in the player on my iphone:)

Got a few questions about the track and maybe the experts here can help me out

1. What was the reaction of the fans and press when this track came out (i have read some things about it) but was it picked up positive?
2. @ what gig can i find a cracking live-version of this one?
3. has it stood the test of time?
4. do u like the track?

my personal Fav live version is at California, Fri, Apr 28 1989 at the universal amphitheatre

i love the track =, my 7th fav i would sat(atm) i love it because its just a summer song and a perfect pop song without being gay

1.Not sure, although popular enough to have Frente cover it. 2.The glasgow gig is my favorite, but reading 93 is ace aswell. 3.BLT 94 is amazingly fresh, even by todays standards(on the best of New Order) 4.I love the track, loathe the Shep Pettibone remix though, drum beat has nothing on the original.

Was the only song i got anything out of upon listening to Brotherhood for the first time on the day of the album's release. Then a great craic in the mosh to it at the Birmingham Tower Ballroom gig a few days later. Always wished they'd had released it as a single before Brotherhood came out, instead of State Of The Nation. Would have been a top 10 hit then ( not that the chart mattered, you could argue i suppose). As it was it didn't even make the top 40 here in Blighty. The old live version was ace circa summer 87.

I appreciate that other people may like this track, but for me it's not a great one. It came at a low point (for me) with SOTN preceding.

Ironically I was buying EVERYTHING that was being released by NO at the time, so I have bloody loads of vinyl versions of this including that Canadian gatefold 7".

Also think the video (like most of NO's videos for singles) is absolute shite.

gig I was working at tonight, the support act who are called Black Kids did a cover/excerpt of BLT

dont think they had much choice their own song sounded so similar

How can you say that????? Most New Order videos are brilliant .The video for BLT was way ahead of its time and made by the great artist Robert Longo. Its a top video!!

BLT is the song that got me into New Order and the best version I have heard is the Richard X mixes.

it has always been a personal fav (many, of course) track by neworder. a CLASSIC and always a dance floor-filler regardless of the era. th3 extended dance version was never enough!

Those were the days when N.O. played tracks BEFORE they were even recorded or at least out on record,& I remember the press reaction being very positive.The first time I actually heard it was live from GMEX in Manchester '86,it's a bit different than on record so I tend to like that version live.One of N.O.'s best IMO,so definately stands the test of time,one of my top 5 N.O. tunes,the album version tho',not so keen on the Shep Pettibone remix personally.Massive

BLT really was not a radio "hit" in the UK at the time, was it? Not sure why, the original is beautiful, uplifting, and full of energy. Certainly a 100 times better than Shellshock and State of the Nation. The 12" ended up a huge dancefloor staple in the USA in the late 80s.

The production is rather dated, in Low-life to Brotherhood period the beats and low end could have been better recorded, but the song has a timeless quality. The synths may seem too 80s cliche to some but it's still a classic.

It's a funny song, because when it came out I was so massive on NO that nowadays it's just become second nature, one of those songs you just can't be impartial to.

I was still living in the UK back then, and I remember it being more of a hit when Substance came out in 1988, together with the revamped Blue Monday and the revival of the original version. Either way, it was a pretty international hit - I remember flying over here on holidays and it being a massive radio and dance floor hit too.

It's a great song, I think it betrays a massive Kraftwerk influence if you ask me, especially the drumbeat and percussion of the original version, and also the very beginning of The Other Two I'm told - it was basically written by Steve and Gillian, right?

I do love both original and Shep Pettibone's mixes, and I've always felt it's a NO essential track. "Perfect pop song without being gay." Couldn't have put it better myself.
