NME radio reports that a new best of is coming - is this true? Leftovers + blue monday - don't know if this is good or bad?

They might as well re-issue Best of with a bonus disc of Rest of mastered directly from old vinyl.

Oh, hell no...

they did with Joy Division last year (the cover really kills it all for me; even Permanent being a lifeless compilation is saved by its cover).

Who'se up for the additions of "Crystal, Krafty, 60 Miles an Hour, WFTSC, Jetstream, Turn, and some shit remix of Temptation"?

Substantial '09 - The Very BEST of the Best (bonus disc The Very Best of the Rest of the Best)

Nailed on. I'll buy it. (if the graphs are ok, obv.)

OT, but what's so bad about Permanent? The songs are the same.

It's supposed to be theLeftovers + Control OST (3 tracks) and BTW it's not a bestOf

So is this the Waiting for the Sirens Call expanded re-issue? Or have they decided to make it a stand alone release? If stand alone that is kinda lame.

Is saville going to make an epic sleeve? I'm awaiting the NO Ipod to go along with this.

Now, how to press a lemon to fill 25 glasses of juice.

I mean, if you want to do this, do a real box set this time including everything and stop releasing the same crap over and over.

A stand alone release would work well if they fleshed it out with more tracks. There's at least eight other non-album tracks from their comeback period that could be added to the mix... Brutal, Crystal & 60MPH b-sides, Here to Stay single, Vietnam, Such a Good Thing, Peter Saville soundtrack

Rather than redundantly reissue two albums that haven't even hit a ten year mark and don't need any kind of digital remastering, they should throw in all of the above as a companion disc for those albums and call it "Tombstone: The Death of New Order"

The Guilt is a Useless Emotion digital single had some of the best New Order Mixes out there.

It's not a popular song for the superfans on this site, but everybody else seemed to enjoy it (NO's lone Grammy nod anybody?)

Another compilation isn't really needed.

I'm still hoping to hear the WFTSC leftovers.

Umm.. WFTSC on CD does need remastering to get rid of the distorted, compressed, mess we got. By someone who knows how a CD should be mastered, i.e. NOT Alchemy Sound Marring Ltd. or whatever they are called.

Imagine a clean mix of Dracula's castle? I might be able to make out the chorus!

I don't get the logic of this at all. There's nothing to release in a 'real' box set that hasn't already been released. You simply can't do it without re-releasing the same material for the umpteenth time. I guess they could do an iTunes package like Depeche Mode have done where they sell literally *everything* they've ever released in one $270 package. But to make a physical product of the same thing would be a joke.

I hope they just put out a compilation album that includes the WFTSC unused tracks and maybe flesh it out with some b-sides and rarities from the last ten years and that's it. That's all that needs to be done.

What I wouldn't mind seeing (apart from the WFTSC stuff) is a volumes 2 of Substance. Heck, they're pretty close to being able to do a volume 3 too.

Please, no.

I can't imagine left overs being much good if they are released unfinished.

Release a CD and start a competition so we can UMYX them and write / sing the lyrics!

Might even generate a bit more activity around these parts...

Maybe they can overcompress this and make it really loud this time around, with new releases every ten years to keep up with the deteriationg hearing of the aging fanbase?:thumb:

.

I maybe wrong but I remember Barney in 2005 saying that the 7 tracks were finished.

Yep, I remember reading that too - from memory he said they had 20-22 songs, i.e. instrumentals and he was busy getting the lyrics done... would be interesting to hear Sugar Cane after hearing them talking it up and saying it should have been on the last album. Still fingers crossed new solo stuff will surface in the not too distant future!
