Yes, that was my very retort to a mate who was a Mary Chain fan when he complained about the same said "Pure"... I said "what about Darklands, then?"... "Oh yeah" was his reply! 
I'm currently teaching a group of students to make an animation to play in the background of a song to be performed by our school choir this year. The song I was given to work with has a VERY Love Vigilantes riff the whole way through the chorus. Spooky that this thread popped up again right now!
not at all! just sound very neworder-ish. ian broudie's a musical genius (just think of THE WILD SWANS & CARE) and would never rip somebody's music off without crediting them.
