Hi everyone, I'm new to New Order, and after hearing a lot of their stuff, I just want to buy the whole discography.I've heard about the disgraceful remasters, and wondered what to do. Should I wait for the new remasters? should I buy the old ones? Is there any news regarding the new remasters?
What's your advice?

Get the original Cd's if you can find them. Stay away from the Singles set though, terrible mastering.
Really, the old CDs are not any better. The new releases of the old albums are not terrible, most of the problems are with the second disc of singles on the sets. Fans are pissed because after years of waiting they didn't have a decent amount of quality control.
Just go ahead and buy something, you have waited this long, who knows when if ever they really put out new re-mastered re-masters.
I say buy Substance or Retro first.
The remasters really aren't that bad. There are a few unforgivably bad mistakes where it's just shocking they made it past quality control, but unless you're really anal it probably won't bother you.
Depends what you want......if you want 'pop' New Order,get 'Best of..',but it is in no way representative.For that you want all the '80's albums,& get the remasters,the sound of the actual albums is way better than the originals,but the 2nd cd does suffer.As a starting point,you would probably be better of with Retro,it has a decent spread & IS quite representative.I'd get 'Singles' too...it's good for the car...
Other than that...welcome,enjoy & your life is now complete 
i started with sustance,
which i didn't like but then i got singles which like kel said is great for the car,
then i got Movement and PC&L in one go, then i was hooked

I Guess I'll start with singles and Retro.However, I have to say I'm an album kind of guy...I mean, after buying a collection i just start buying the albums, and generally never touching the collection again.Therefore, I really hope they will release the new remasters in jun 16(according to amazon.com,that's the plan...), so maybe I'll wait a month or so to see the reactions here.

personally i'd start with power corruption and lies and take it from there.
The origanal cd's would be agood start,if you can get them at a good price that is.

Retro is an odd bag of songs, and I never listen to it. Has lots of good songs, but no focus. Get a couple of 80s albums to start with, there are 5.
I would recommend you start with Substance 1987; it's the only bona fide NO compilation that most fans hold in high regard plus it's a solid selection (A side and B side) of the first decade of the band's output. Everything from the Joy Division rumble of Ceremony through the discovery of their own unique sound culminating in the synthpop genius of True Faith. It's chronological too so the closest thing the band have to a 1980s "CV".
From there I'd recommend buying PC&L, Low-Life and Technique. Just get the original CentreDate pressings from Amazon for a few quid each - they're dirt cheap these days - and they should see you right until the "corrected" remasters have been released (if they are released). If you're still enjoying yourself mop up the rest of the albums and maybe check out "The Rest Of NewOrder" remix compilation which has some nice reworkings of tracks you may like if you're into dance musak.
Retro covers a wide range of material but is disjointed, random and badly compiled... but hey, there's 4 (or 5 if limited edition) CD's worth there so you're guaranteed to hear lots of good material. Unfortunately you won't be hearing it in any sort of logical or meaningful order.

Sound advice there. Just don't start by buying Movement. You can also pick up Get Ready in most bargain buckets for a few pennies, and while it is flawed, its probably the best album of the last three, in my opinion, if not just for 'Crystal'.
I know most people will say that the quality f brotherhood is poor, but it has some brilliant songs on it, I'm tempted to say, buy them in order from power, corruption and lies (PCL) I put the whole name as a lot of people just abbreviate and expect new comers to know what the mean. if you like some of the darker moods, then try Movement.
Make sure you get either substance or retro so you get some B-sides as there are some real classics i.e. In a lonely place b side of Ceremony, Lonesome Tonight b side of Thieves like us and 1963 (original version) b side of true faith.
All well worth getting hold of.
I never bought the re-masters and doubt I'll buy the re-re-masters, I got them all when they came out, so I'm used to how they sound, it's just the variation in volume when you go from tracks off different albums on your iPod that is the cause of the majority of over doing on remasters.

I've always known Blue Monday and Bizzare love triangle (due to the cover by Frente which I love - although I guess some of you don't, if not all of you) but never decided to go further. last week a good friend of mine told me i should start, and he sent me some songs. and Yeah, I'm a Joy Division fan. I have both albums in their new edition.

Substance is by far the best (though the Singles collection is more comprehensive), but the versions on Substance were finally refined to a topnotch band... before most of the songs are great for NO lovers, but too much of Bernard finding his voice, and the band finding themselves musically that could put off the new listener.

plus of course a lot of the singles from the early days weren't on any albums, so you'll need substance anyway & substance is the full versions of the songs, singles is the 7" edits.
