Please let us loyal veterans have an album of early rarities

Isnt it about time that we long serving and loyal fans were rewarded with a new remastered box-set of early hard to get hold of stuff?

I am thinking of examples such as the much fabled Western Works demo and the song 'homage' in particular, which I have a version of live from Boston Underground Sept 1980 and it is a real gem.

Also early Peel sessions with tracks such as 'too late' and 'turn the heater on'. It could also have some live stuff from the early shows and maybe showcase the band from 1980 to 1985.

Although I have most of the stuff in various forms I recently bought the Retro set and I thought the live disc in particular was brill but couldnt see the point of duplication of so many tracks on the other discs.

I think the band should have asked me to be the overall curator and I would have come up with something far better!

Now Western Works has been leaked there's seems little to gain in releasing it officially.

Also the Peel sessions have been released over and over again anyway.

Of course, there could be more that people don't know about.....?

This would mean Rhino actually cares about the fans, which they clearly don't. Don't expect this, just wait for the next round of box sets.

Bernard doesn't seem to care much for all that minor league 80s stuff back after Joy Division ended and before he became a real "rock star" in Electronic. He didn't really want much rarities or live 80s stuff on the box set in the first place. Talk to him about it.

Well I'm glad to say mein klienen New Ordnung kameraden,that my search for the fabled Dead-Sea scrolls, or maybe more appropriatly the 'Bridgwater Canal scrolls' has finally ended happily.

If New Order are never going to make good on their early years by way of an offical CD then there is always somebody on-line who can help.

I am thinking here the legendary and v v rare WESTERN WORKS demo. Yes I can now share my lucky find and if you Google or browse the link below, you will see that you can download it in 2 parts.

I'm afraid though it invloves a bit of faffing coz they are Flac files and not mp3s but you should easily be able to download free mp3 coversion software.

For a bit of effort you will be richly rewarded as they are sound great and very atmospheric sounding. Young Steven Morris has an effective and superior (to Barney's weedy crap voice-sorry Bernard if your reading!) voice particularly for this transitionary stage from JD to New Order. In fact when the band made this demo in July 1980, they were unnamed. There is even a well weird disco type track with Rob Gretton singin!!

Thank to guy who runs the above site and he also offers a load of free downloadable Joy Division and early New Order live stuff.
