Just a heads up..saw a full page ad for it in this week's NME...big Joy Division heading with picture of the Unknown Pleasures album and 1979-2009 underneath
Says it will be onsale Wednesday June 17..prob the week after for North America/rest of the world
I hope (but seriously doubt) they've put more effort into it than the 'Stone Roses 20th Anniversary of the Greatest Debut Album Ever' edition in April. OR even more effort than the '20 Things You Never Knew About Ian Curtis*****' list a year or two ago.

another for my garage collection, i would have been having me 21st bithday party at the brookfield 1/2 a mile from strawberry studios at the time when the album was being recorded,, i think weve both aged well

I was slightly dissapointed to find that after 30 years, we are not actually any closer to knowing what the unknown pleasures actually are - sorry, its been a long week.

That's how I've always understood the title.
There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know.

I was more in the territory of my own unknown pleasures, which could of course be more universal. So:
The unknown pleasure of Portsmouth winning the Premier League title
The unknown pleasure of feeling clean and refreshed after using public transport
The unknown pleasure of enjoying listening to the re-mastered New Order albums
The unknown pleasure of agreeing with anything in the Daily Mail
etc. etc.

Pic of Hooky i don't recall seeing before - coat draped over his shoulders while playing his bass. Quite liked the little anecdote about the taxman charging them for Unknown Pleasures tee shirts although they had protested they'd never produced an official one til 1994. The taxman didn't believe em and charged them anyway.

Bought it and read it yesterday. I thought that too, about the "Hooky playing bass with a coat on" photo. Must be because Hannett had the air-con on full blast. I'm surprised there aren't more pictures of the band wearing woolly hats in the studio.
A new little comment in the article interested me where Bernard didn't think much of the track 'Candidate' and was reluctant to play on it. That's funny because I've always thought that was the only weak track on the album: it sounds more like a half-sketched idea than a song to me (albeit a nice mood piece to act as a bridge between 'Day of the Lords' & 'Insight'), but it's saving grace is Bernard's icy, scrawly guitar sounds. I've never been able to understand why 'Candidate' made it and 'Auto-Suggestion' didn't.

Btw, PSB's latest offering is purty good....I would have given it a miss had my sis-in-law not alert me how good their current single sounds.....

£1=99p for one...granted the other was £2=99p.The PSB Possibly More mix is GREAT!

Actually I dont have those recent PSB singles, cant get them here as PSB doesnt sell too well in macho Oz country 
Anyway, I was lucky to have seen PSB in concert with my missus couple years ago in Sydney Hordern Pavillion - first time after yonks of following them....ooops, this is def becoming :topic: :D
...oh, to stay on NO/JD topic - yeah, I still have those 12 different vinyl issues of LOWLIFE somewhere
