Bumping this back to the top, just to annoy Colin

If New Order ever re-formed, the only way I will pay attention is if Peter Hook is with them.
Why would I support a band that hates touring in USA, hasn't put out a great album since Technique? (Yeah, a couple of good songs Crystal and Krafty.
Nothing against Phil or Stephen at all, but the way I see it, Barney is the problem.
Fortunately, Depeche Mode kept consistent.
curtis is only merchandising This is musical! Joy Division is simplicity from the point of view factors Melodic and the composition is 60% the Magician (Bernardo), 20% Martin Hannett, 10% hook, 9,9 Morris, 0,1% the clown of the mode merchandising Curtis.
CURTIS SACUDETE EN TU CRIPTA.

Is Colin home yet?
Technique and Republic sound Bernard dominated. Definetly the sound of Electronic permeating those albums.

I'll allow Republic, but Technique, you must be Joking, Hooky, Steve and Gillian are all over it.
If new order's music was 99% Bernard Sumner, then it would all sound like Liar from Republic but with worse drums, i.e very bland. Luckily it's not, so we get music with great drums, great melodic bass guitar and great synths and vocals, I'd say that wold work out a hell of a lot less than 99%
Okay, well, statement of the year for me. Did you fall on your head recently or what buddy? To discount the importance in songwriting and playing from Hooky and Steven/Gillian is ludicrous. If they couldn't write music then NO wouldn't have been, nor would their side projects* been worth their weight in salt. The thing about Bernard is he seems to work best when he has good collaborators, or someone pushing him to do something better than just getting by. NO are one of the few bands in history that are surely the sum of their parts.
*Which I think are great records in their own right.
Coulnd't someone just delete this thread? It's just daft and very unlikely that it will prompt anything remotely sensible in response.

The bass and drums on Technique dont have any presence. Not compared with the 81-6 albums.

Other than All the way, Loveless, Round and round, Guilty partner, Run and Vanishing point that is.
I think the problem here is that Mr Way doesn't actually know what a bass is.
I used to go out with someone with the same problem.
