Hi everyone! I have been searching everywhere now for a couple of days, and came with nothing so I'm going to ask you guys/gals.

On the original The Perfect Kiss 12" Single (UK Fac 123) from 1985, the track Kiss of Death(my fav song EVER) has a sample of a woman moaning "AH!" at exactly 1:36 on, which beautifully repeats itself for around 14 seconds. Hope you know which one I'm talking about.

The thing is, I was listening to this release by Kraftwerk of Tour de France and on the first B-Side (B1. Tour de France Version) I thought I heard the EXACT same sample of the female moaning at 00:16 on and later at 2:16, 4:33 and 5:48. I'm about 98% it's the same sample.

Here is a youtube video of the Kraftwerk Version in question, (add 2 or 3 seconds from the times I mentioned because the video starts a little late from the song I have but it is the same)

What I'm wondering is, what is that sample? Where did it come from? Was it of common use in the early 1980s?

By the way I know nothing of synths and musical instruments. Many Thanks, Congrats to everyone for the great forums and community.

I've always wondered about that sample, I've often been suspicious as to whether it is a manipulated version of Bernard's voice, I hope not though!

It's fairly common to come across screaming samples already loaded in the sound banks of digital synthesizers. I used own a Roland synth which had quite a few of them spread across the keys, both male and female.

My guess is that it was in the sample banks for the Emulator, same as the frogs.

I always assumed it was Barney, I know it sounds a bit feminine, but Barney can get quite high with his vocal, if you listen to the chorus, I'm sure it's just an out take from the I of I know you know, maybe pitch shifted a tad. if you listen to the BV's on jetstream (i know it shite!) best heard on the remix competition cd which allows you to isolate some parts, you can hear just how high barney can get, and Anna Matronic can't get that high!

To me it doesn't sound like the sample used in the kraftwerk re-mix, similar, but not the same sample.

Hey, Jetstream is awesome! Im not kidding, its a great dance pop song and my favorite track from WFTSC.

(I cower from the beer bottles about to be thrown at me).

Barney can get pretty high and even feminine sounding with his voice, he does it on certain live recordings from the 80s. And don't forget his "Donna Summer Erotic vocals" that he did for Fine Time that ended up on the Steve Slik Hurley mix.

I've always thought the female sample was Barney saying "I" as well. They used the sample when playing the track live.
