Its a tough tough one this , cos despite what people say about movement there are some nuggets there,, dreams never end being my fav new order song,proccesion,, yea good got barneys vocal right despite the 40 odd takes though for production id go for eveythings gone green....

Sensible answer - Procession, actually no, Id go for ceremony (the substance version). Great recording and loe the guitar effects used, the crisp snare, and decent vocals from Sir Bernard.

temptation 7"

I would have to go with "Everything's Gone Green."

This is a really hard decision for me as I'm a big fan of the stuff from the Movement era... I guess I'd have to pick The Him. Really haunting IMO. Procession and the second version of Ceremony are right behind.

I love 'Procession', song & production

Has to be the original version of Ceremony, so much tighter and more dramatic (and frankly much more Joy Division sounding) than the insipid remake (on Substance), which to my ears actually sounds more like a 'live in the studio' effort.

I love almost all of his work with NO (only Senses & Denial seem much weaker than their live versions). They lost a lot of their magic amd mystique when they went on their own.

Hadn't heard that he had anything to do with Temptation, either as Producer or as 'programmer' - where does that info come from?

Procession, or better yet, Cries and Whispers. Really dramatic sounding. In A Lonely Place too. Movement, as I've said before, is really claustrophobic. The hi-hats sound great, but, uh, the vocals are lost.

the 7" version sounds like hannett all the way. the 12" version sounds muddy...not so clean. i still like it though. but it does sound slightly inferior.

[T.Ivarsson] The 7" has a cold start and fade out end, the 12" has a fade in start and a cold end. The rumor is, to experience the total Temptation one should paste the two versions together to a complete song with cold start and cold end.

I have always been under th impression that Bernard programmed Temptation (and therefore wrote the main crux of the song) on the combo sequencer/synth that he built for EGG.

Hannet didn't produce Temptation at all, if the credits are to be believed.
