Not sure anything by Bernard or Hooky (or indeed Steve) could bring me to buy that "paper" again. The 4/10 online review they gave the new Maps album recently sealed the fact it's on a different wavelength from decent musak. None of the reviewers seem to actually describe the music as well... they just use it as an excuse to overuse a Thesaurus.
Still, anyone able to chuck up a cheeky scan of this Bernard thing?

Did you like the new Maps album Ally? I can't recall having been so looking forward to an album and then feeling so let down.
Certainly do. Couldn't stop listening to I Dream Of Crystal, Valium, Love Will Come and Everything Is Shattering when I first got it. What didn't you like in particular? Definitely a strong contender for album of the year for me anyway.
From all the rumours of the "direction" Chapman was taking I don't think what was delivered was too far off expectation. Basically the first album with a slightly harder dance sound and lots of lyrics about pills. The Spiritualised-esque soundscapes are still very much there though. The Dub of "Let Go Of The Fear" is slightly better than the album/single mix in my opinion... if you don't have it drop me a PM.

Actually,no,but Jay Z & Ian Brown,so not too bad.I buy it to keep my oar in,so to speak,but it usually ends up being a fookin' waste of £2.30 :\ohwell:

Will be Warners but NO gotta pay it back thru sales. And if the sales aren't what they'd hoped they end up bringing out another 'best of' or re-releasing all their old albums or taking such a low royalty that they have to play gigs to get an income etc
Two and a half mill to make one album. Jesus!! No wonder alot of folk use home computers for recording.

Well on WFTSC they did use two well established producers (John Leckie and Stephen Street) and one up and coming/in demand dance producer (Stuart Price).
Can't imagine any of those three coming cheap!

it is just an NME teaser, you can't read it online til it has been out a week.....

Bernard is a huge closet Fall Out Boy fan. (As is my daughter, hence my encyclopedic knowledge of FOB lyrics.)

Their poor little fingers can't manage the guage of the strings.
Also, many guitarists have little sense of rhythm, I'm sure the drummers and bass players here would back that up.
Tell a guitarist to play a JJ Burnel or Bruce Foxton bass part and prepare to laugh your "ass" off...

I wouldn't think that every guitarist can play bass, although probably some might be able to do so. I don't mean to go off-topic, but for example, Andy Bell (ex-Ride) used to play guitar when he was in Ride, yet he was a bass player in Oasis. So I guess some have experience playing both or later learnt how to play it.
But I think bass playing needs a sense of rhythm, like you said, Chris.
