Listen to his very last words on the Talksport piece and tell me he does not.

Nothing wrong with that, they've been mates since they were kids.

Bitter pair of cantankerous old dickheads.Happens all the time in any walk of life.

Don't lose the love if you don't have to,said the wise man.

With a bit of give and take,we'll see a bit more of New Order,I'll wager.....later on.

Jack, you're a young man,but lifelong friendship is a very powerful emotional thing..I got asked to be godfather of my oldest friend's first baby tonight, and I feel really good about it.Not that that has anything to do with it.

But it does, sort of...Your old fella and Bernard are 40 year mates.Don't you think it is sad that they lose that?Music, money, pride, bullshit, everything apart? What the fuck is so bad they should lose that?

Fuck all to do with me,granted.

If I were a betting man, which I am, I would put money on an eventual reconciliation, and even the band reforming in some, even be it small capacity. Too much history for it to end like it did.

My oldest and bestest mate is my sons Godfather, and i'll tell ye what,he'd need to shoot my mam for me to fall out with him,in fact,i'd take a bullet for the big cunt.

Can't see it Mr B.

He'll probably be dying to get up onstage and bang out a bassline though if he attends a BL gig.

i would imagine Jack's reply was about the biased thread title.... as if Hooky is the only one hoping the two are friends again... the word 'dying' implies some sort of desperation, and it is a bit awkward to imply Hooky is desperate to make amends, but everyone else could give a shit....

but i am sure Jack can speak for himself! :)

Come off it.

Someone has to make the first move... You've twisted that unnecessarily, gadge.

Some do,some don't,so fuck.

Let them get on with it.It's their friendship. I just get the feeling they are proper friends and it will come again for them.

They may never be New Order,or do fuck all together musically again, but I bet they die mates,or they are a pair of stubborn spackers..Just speculating.Be nice if they did.

I could be wrong, fuck knows what happened..You know how nasty divorce can be.

But it's not divorce.

I'll have a tenner the dozy bastards make at least one more fucking brilliant record..Yes siree!

Still hopeful to see NO together again with the original team. It would be their last gig with Gillian too.

It would be cool if Freebass release gets good feedback from Barney. Maybe in a year or so they might feel like making up. Even if its not to get NO back together but just to be mates again. They have so much history between them and im sure 1993 was a special time for Hooky too.

I for one live in hope but what will be will be.

Based on what I saw on Thursday, I think the return of New Order would be a backwards step and I hope it never happens.

Hopefully Hooky can reach similar levels of excellence in projects away from New Order.

Quite homoerotic this thread, innit?

Well the split has been very bitter but nothing two old punks from Manchester can't put behind if they sell 3,000 copies of their solo albums each... :evil4:

Speaking artistically, I see what Biginoil means. While I far prefer WFTSC to NCAT, when I hear NCAT I hear something which is not innovative at all, but it's still a step forward for Barney, still doing something different (though not too distant from what a fourth Electronic album would have been). The best songs, though, Running Out Of Luck and Walk On Silver Water, could have been made by New Order, so after all a reunion might still bring interesting stuff.

What's really missing from the frame, though, is a Rob Gretton or even a Tony Wilson. I'm afraid that the absence of two essential charachters like these makes the chances of a make up far less likely. Can Andy Robinson bring Barney and Hooky at the pub for a beer, a fight and then discuss the opportunity? Or is he less reliable for Hooky because he is already working with Barney? :confused2:

Colin,sir...i would hate to disagree....so i won't.Could be better if we have 2 acts to follow and if FREEBASS sound as good live as BL doing NEW ORDER retro then all the better!:thumb: :thumb: Has that arm healed yet.Nasty cut!

I think they will make up eventually, but NO is six feet under IMHO

That was Tony and Rob who dealed with Barney and Hooky's complicated egos. They knew how to manage with them really. After their death I don't know who is the ideal person to do that. Maybe Saville, not sure if Steve or Andy will be helpful cause they're working with Barney now.

Steve doesn't seem interested in conflicts and Phil's relatively new to the band and eventually formed BL with Barney... Hmmm...

Steve is like a fly on the wall. Like Hooky says, he is always in middle between him and Bernard.

This is going to sound odd but if you look at it like it was a family unit,Rob & Tony were like the parents. Now that they are gone, that leaves Barney & Hooky. They are like the two eldest sons that both want to be the ultimate authority figure in the family except there can only be one.

p.s.I don't think there is anyone brave enough to step between them.
