If you have shelled out for the box set (like I have in a moment of madness) that will not be released until 19th Oct, won't give me much chance to listen to the album b4 the manchester gig. I've still only heard the records on radio + dynamo.
Just bought it from HMV, in true NO 'days of yore' fashion, I havnae heard a single track of it, but i'm already setting myself up to be disappointed.
I picked it up at lunch. but now that I have it in my possession I can justifiably say that the packaging is hideous inside and out, and worse than the multi-coloured inner sleeve bit of WFTSC.
The music's not bad, but a lot of those guitars are oasis sound-a-likes and are irritating, they fill the place where sumner's guitar could be. I miss sumner's guitar work more than hooky's bass.
Still, its pleasant and diverting enough, I'm not regretting buying it.
mine came from hmv on fri,i've listened to it a good few times since and after a good(ish) start on the first 2 tracks i think its shit

Will buy it this week. I didn't get round to downloading it so have only heard Sink Or Swim and Dynamo. SOS has grown on me and the radio remix someone put up here is good. Dynamo sounds like a CSI cast off.

I thought that there was a problem with the post office at first!
Still I know all the words to Electronic and NO stuff so will be ok for most of the gig
Only got the single in VINYL format and downloaded iTUNES 3rd bonus track.Album plus 2 extra bonus tracks ordered...expected THURSDAY.![]()
My HMV didnt even have it. Is it definately out today? Could have got Editors or Shakiras new one:\ohwell:
I'm starting to think I must be easily pleased - I've had this all day and its a fine listen to my innocent ears !
Not out 'til the 16th in Australia, according to the cooler-than-thou staff at JB Macquarie Park
Don't let them kid you, it's a fine album. Miserable shits on here (ie me) will complain about anything. There's some lovely moments, and the whole thing works really well.
Strange to see how they've ballsed up the release date so badly though. People seem to have either bought it last week or can't find it today.
Not like the old days, I tell thee.
don.t forget to buy the super deluxe version from the official shop limited to just 1000 and a cost of £55............HMMMMMMMM how about fuck off

I know that sometimes release dates are different between regions...for example, back in August, I heard that the UK edition was going to be released on the 5th of October, and the Japanese edition on the 7th.
The Japanese edition was released on the 7th of October, but it's interesting how the UK edition was delayed.

This one is a Japanese bonus track, so it's only available in the Japanese iTunes and CD... Out of reach for most of us.
Or is it?

Being away from home, I haven't investigated the boxset. What tracks are on the 7" single in there - is that just the Sink Or Swim 7"?

According to yesterday's news update at the BL site, the exclusive 7" will feature 2 unreleased tracks... Not clear which ones though.

I live in Canada. It's interesting hearing about its availability in other places. God knows when it'll be available here. My only hope is to download off of Itunes, I guess. I miss the good old days when you could walk into your record store & find the newest New Order album sitting there waiting for you.

I wonder if they'll sell all the 1000 copies! Yes I'd have liked the T shirt, yes I'd have liked the 7", but 55 pounds, come on... and I don't need the fookin vinyl, I barely have time to listen to music from iTunes or iPod when outside!

Hey,it's not that bad! It's still beautiful here!![]()
Well I must be a sad case because I bought the japanese version with the extra tracks and its been in the car cd player non-stop for a few days now and is the best thing about at the moment. Few tracks stand out and yes we all know there could have been more bass but on the whole![]()
Looking forward to Heaven and the offical release of the remixes.
I wonder if its worth the extra trouble to try to get ahold of the Japanese import.....hmmmmm. I'm just afraid if I order it from so far away,it'll be damaged by the time it gets to the Canadian east coast. Now I don't know which to get, the UK version or the Japanese one.![]()
Just thought I'd mention that the album went into the UK Albums Chart at No.70 this week. I got the digipak version on Amazon & it's quite a good album, well worth getting if you are a New Order/Bernard Sumner fan.

It could have been 69 if so many people hadn't shared it online.

Don't we know...we are very poor now.Hey now what you downloading?:p
Being away from home, I haven't investigated the boxset. What tracks are on the 7" single in there - is that just the Sink Or Swim 7"?
From the NOOL front page:
"A limited number of the Never Cry Another Tear Deluxe Edition will be made available in the U.S., and includes a copy of the CD, a 14-track, deluxe double 180g vinyl of the album, a 7" vinyl featuring the tracks "Sink or Swim" and "Dynamo," a deluxe 12" booklet, an artwork print, and a special Bad Lieutenant t-shirt."
Erm... exclusive 7"? I'm still waiting for my box set to arrive, mind, and it seems nobody else has got theirs yet, so hopefully we'll be pleasantly surprised?
I think the problem with the album is there are maybe too many tracks of a specific style I.e. jangly guitar rock. This may have proven a bit too repetitive for some New Order fans especially those who tend to prefer the more electronic stuff. Fair enough really, I miss Barney doing a good electro track as much as anyone.
I only just noticed the other day there are fifteen tracks on the Japanese issue so that's a hell of a lot of songs for one release... I think the most ever tracks for any New Order related album excluding compilations? Correct me if I'm wrong.
About six or seven tracks on the album are on heavy rotation with me at the moment. I genuinely think they're really good. These would probably be Twist of Fate, Poisonous Intent, Walk On Silver Water, Split the Atom, This Is Home and Falling Trees. Surprisingly I can take or leave Sink or Swim, I've probably heard it too much.
Don't mean to continue the getting-tedious NO comparisons but out of all of them Poisonous Intent would've been a brick shithouse of a New Order single with a Hooky bassline running through it and the keyboards turned up. It would've beat any single from WTFSC anyway. As it stand it's still really good, Steve's drumming stands out in particular.
The rest I certainly don't dislike but don't revisit them as much as the ones I've named.
It's a good album IMO
I like it.
