NCAT vs. WFTSC.

WFTSC is much more interesting sounding and better produced, very uneven songs.

NCAT has potentially better songs overall but is hampered with bland uninspired dorky production and bland trite lyrics. Jake Evans makes me hit the skip to next button. No classic songs. Could have been a better record.

WFTSC has 4 classic tracks and the rest average at best.

NCAT has 12 good songs and 2 great songs.

As an album i'd go with NCAT but for the best individual songs i'd go for WFTSC (if you see what i mean)

Similar ideas to the Major- NCAT is certainly a grower with some fantastic tracks (although the extra tracks on various formats are better than most of the tracks chosen for the proper release)>

However there are no classics like Who's Joe, Turn or WFTSC

If I was in solitary in Gitmo I'd rather have the songs "WFTSC" [definitely] and "Turn" [just about] than my favourite songs off NCAT - "Twist of Fate" and "Running out of Luck". Cream off the best couple of tracks, though, and I think NCAT is slightly better. Overall neither gets better than 3/5.

Maybe it's about expectations. I was ultimately disappointed by WFTSC; I suppose I do miss faster, more dance-orientated material on NCAT, but I was never expecting to get it, and subsequent info - the Stuart Price stuff, plus the EP's worth of synth-based material that might or might not come out under the name Bad Lieutenant - suggests it would be wrong to expect BL to cover all of New Order's bases.

I'd rather compate NCAT to Twisted Tenderness. TT had bigger balls, and I wish NCAT had more of that commodity, but the songs on NCAT get me more at an emotional level.

Never really got on with WFTSC, a couple of good songs but Jizzstream is the worst NO track in history! it is the NO album i listen to least.

NCAT has some good songs on it and a few fillers, if they do stick around it would be good to see what their next move is with a more stable core band.

I'm not a big fan of WFTSC, and I'm fairly indecisive when it comes to saying what is better and such, but I think WFTSC has better melodies overall. NCAT is a good album in the classic sense, it fits together, flows etc, but it's just not as strong as WFTSC. Which is odd, considering WFTSC isn't really a great, punchy, memorable album either.

WFTSC is a great album. The only song that shouldn't be on it is 'Working Overtime' - because it's shite. Saying that , it would fit perfectly on the NCAT album.

The thing about NEW ORDER is well, they're BRILLIANT. Sure, they have flaws but even their flaws are BRILLIANT. It's the flaws that make their music interesting, at least in part anyway. I mean who else would sing,"I think you are a pig, you should be in a zoo?" The opening cough in the shimmering beauty that is "Loveless." Barney is a genius & a perfectionist but even on this record,he sings,"reaching perfection takes too long."

I think BCAT is more consistent,WFTSC has more peaks & valleys but its peaks overshadow NCAT a wee bit. Don't get me wrong, NCAT is a really good record. I think it may be the best album out of all the side projects. But NEW ORDER, even their sucky albums still have that magical fairydust on them.

Another comparison to New Order thread. I wont vote even if i had NCAT album because thats aggrivating, i preodered mine its released but not received it yet. Maybe i should query my order.

I guess I have to go with WFTSC not that it makes any difference. Sink or Swim almost sounds like a remake of Hey Now What You Doing. Thats not necessary a compliment. NCAT is okay but im glad its not a New Order album. The voice of Jake Evans sounds like Morrissey in a way, if you know what I mean.

If you look at the lyrics to "Hey Now...," "WFTSC," and "Sink or Swim" you find that Barney seems to write a lot about people making bad decisions.

I prefer WFTSC to Get Ready any day. I thi k WFTSC is superior to Get ready in songwriting, production, use of electronics, everything (the exception to all of this is Crystal).

Matter of fact. WFTSC is the New Order album I listen to the most as an album. I like every song on it, and I think it plays well all the way through.

Who's Joe?, Morning Night and Day, WFTSC, Krafty, Turn, HNWYD, these are classic New Order tracks, all have a great misture of tasteful moody guitars and electronics combined with dance rhythms from Steve, great bAsswork from Kooky, and gorgeous melodies from Sumner.

Jetstream. I love it. My favorite song on the record. One of the best electro pop songs that New Order has ever done. It's one of my top ten favorite New Order songs.

Guilt is a Useless Emotion is a killer dance track.

I even love I Told You So, love the melodies, programming, and guitars, and the last two minutes are great. I love the loads of electronics on Dracula's Castle.

I think WFTSC could have done a lot better if it had actually been promoted...at all..by the record company.

WFTSC better than Get Ready? April Fools?

Actually, I do enjoy WFTSC musically, but the lyrics are the one thing that drag the album down for me on more than half the tracks. A lot of people here seem to bash Working Overtime, but I hear it as the only song where Barney isn't forcing himself to sing yet another love song or life coaching lesson. The lyrics on Working Overtime are so absurd and make absolutely no sense to the point where Barney doesn't have to fake any kind of emotion and actually sounds like he's having fun.
