Seems like the support gigs are still on. But the others are canceled for both cities. Poor sales maybe? god dammit i hope not, that would mean that they wont be coming back to the US anytime soon, if at all!

How do you know the support shows are not canceled? I am already out hundreds of dollars. I can get a later flight and see the pixes but that will cost even more. At this point I am understandably skeptical.

Educated guess. The only reason i can think of them canceling is poor ticket sales. So technically the support slots should still be on....right???

My guess is that the Pixies support slot will be canceled also. What 's the point of coming to the states for one support gig? I got tickets for that one and I hope i didn't spend a lot of $$$$ just on the Pixies.

Barney was right, losing the New Order brand was commercial suicide. It has to be poor tickets or maybe Barney finally had his heart attack.:evil:

I was SO looking forward to the NYC gig! Too bad the Pixie show is sold out, that's assuming they will even still be there. I wouldn't mind seeing the Pixies, but wouldn't go out of my way for it. I knew I should have just flown to Manchester to see them there. Now I am almost as depressed as I was the day I found out that NO played NYC the night before, and Hooky subsequently DJ'd a local club until the wee hours... and I missed it all.

I don't think it is a visa issue because if you are a resident in ENGLAND it is easy to come to the USA, I have been to ENGLAND, IRELAND and SPAIN and I didn't need a visa to go from USA to those countries only a valid passport. mabye I could be wrong.

did you go to those countries as a tourist, or working???

you do need a visa for business travel...

as a tourist for visiting.

I took four days off of work that I really shouldn't have taken off to be able to go to this show. And now its fucking canceled. Less than a week before.

Keep in mind that if you are a musician on tour you would need a visa that would allow you to perform there (since a musician would be technically be working).

It's not the same as visa free travel applied to tourists.

The more stringent immigration laws and changing visa parameters resulted in an inability to process the necessary paperwork. “We were all so very excited about coming to the States to play our new music for our American fans,” said Bad Lieutenant’s Bernard Sumner, “and are extremely disappointed that on this occasion, we won’t have the opportunity to do so. We plan to reschedule the Chicago and New York shows along with some additional U.S. dates in Spring 2010. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you.”

The four Bad Lieutenant dates that have been cancelled are: November 18 – Park West (headline), Chicago, IL November 19 – supporting the Pixies in Chicago, IL November 21 – Webster Hall (headline), New York, NY November 23 – supporting the Pixies in New York, NY

The concerts were in support of Never Cry Another Tear, Bad Lieutenant’s debut release which arrived in stories on Tuesday, November 10. The band features New Order/Joy Division’s Sumner, newcomer Jake Evans on vocals and guitars as well as guitarist Phil Cunningham and drummer Stephen Morris, musicians who helped make the legendary New Order a multi-Platinum-selling band and one of the most influential forces over the past three decades in the alt/rock/dance genres.

It seems Echo & the Bunnymen also cancelled their remaining US dates due to IRS/work visa issues. Fookin' figures. USA! USA!

Was about to click "buy" on airline tix about 10 minutes ago.

I'm sorry to say this but it seems a bit unprofessional, a visa issue a week before the concerts?? That should've been looked into way back in the summer. I also thought that the band members come to the States quite frequently that it won't be a big deal. What about the 2005 visas? Expired already? I didn't know that for UK citizens it's such a hassle.

Anyway, no more flying for me to non-existent concerts. If BL are coming next year, they should consider Texas first thing on the map.
