The recent Regret Instrumental thread reminded me of this track from Wayne's World 2. The Wikipedia post [ Wiki ] states that it was a cover version. Does anyone have any more info?

After waiting one month, apparently the answer is no.

FFS if you read the link you've put on there is a pretty explicit explanation so don't be surprised if there's nothing to add. And put the dummy back in while you're at it.

Of course I'd read the link. Performed by "studio musicians" doesn't paint a particularly vivid picture.

Another link: IMDB shows a list of artists the producers did pay for. They are from a variety of record labels and artists (Aerosmith, The Stereo MC's, Robert Plant, Dinosaur Jr., The Gin Blossoms, Simon & Garfunkel, Jimi Hendrix, etc.) so I just thought it was peculiar that the New Order track was deemed too dear.

The initial impetus for the post was that I assumed it was really an unissued instrumental version of the original track.

Not said with any snark, but if something like that did exist, it would have surfaced already.

Thanks. You're probably right.

I guess I'll just have to rent that lame movie for another listen.
