About a year later than expected, I finally took my courage today, on this superb summer day, to finally code the forum search engine!
![]()
Yes, yes, there is a working search engine in the forums! Check the menu above and in the Forums menu, you'll see!!
I'll put a button sometime when I'll have the guts to design one inside the pages.
So basically, this search engine is in Beta Testing, there will be errors, probably a bunch of them. Just REPORT them to me. Also, you can suggest enhancements to it, or new features, but keep in mind it took me 1 year to do that, so it can take a while before I enhance it.
(Just don't ask me to see the damn code to create the SQL query to manage this, it's a monster!)
![]()
Alright, features.
You have a boolean search, where you can enter words seperated by spaces, with boolean keywords "and", "or", and "not". There is no exact search yet, with quotes, to search multi-words queries (ex: "New Order"), I will do that sometime.
You can search for a specific user name (works with FULL NAME and NICKNAME).
You can search all forums, or a specific one. Search in messages text or in thread subject, search by date and sort results by various ways.
Please note that the option to "Show results as post" does NOT work right now, you'll only see a thread list., this is a brand new design, I can't take the same thread list as a forum, so I'll work on it before next year ![]()
And sorry for the design, I simply copied one that exists, which I found fine, so it's not yet in the NOOL colors.
There are multiple possibilities you will find when playing with that thing, like for example, just enter a name, select "search in titles" and it will result all the thread that user has started, same with "search in message" will result in all threads when that specific user posted.. you can sort it by date to find your own first message in the forum!
So I'll hope you'll enjoy it, and find it useful, because I took the evening to do it!

Ok, I'm off
