Little known information about Ian

Here's a passage from the new revised edition of Thee Psychick Bible:

Gen coming up with acid house is dubious enough, but Ian joining PTV? That's like saying John Lennon was about to join Human League when he got shot!

Not that he was gonna join PTV, he said that they spoke a lot and that he was the last person to speak to Ian. I remember Bernard saying that he didn't approve of this friendship.

Ian died a full year before Throbbing Gristle's last show. Genesis claims that she (she likes to be called she now) was already planning to leave TG at that time, and that Ian wanted out of Joy Division and they would do some sort of project together. This has never been confirmed by anyone who knew Ian, and even if it was true, there was no plan regarding what said project would be. To say that Ian would have joined PTV is extreme speculation, and that's saying it politely.

The only band I knew Ian was involved those days was Section 25.

There was a lot about this in that Torn Apart book i seem to remember

I would take with a grain of salt, ad GPO's tales regarding IC have gotten bigger and more sensational through the years.

Just flicking through Torn Apart i can't find as much about P.Orriddge as i'd remembered. He does claim to have spoken on the phone to Ian shortly before he died. Maybe other stuff elsewhere in the book but can't find it. Great book though, i thoroughly recommend it

As Gazman said this guy Genesis P-Orridge did appear in the JD documentary so he and Ian obviously knew each other. Whether IC was about to leave Joy Division for a new band does seem far fetched but Mr Porridge does seem adamant. It's not really been mentioned by any other members of the band nor Debbie herself (I think)? I mean, Bernard once mentioned Curtis would like to have "opened a seaside sandwich shop" in a Q&A about 10 years ago which equally seems a bit spur of the moment...

For a band with Closer and LWTUA apart behind them as well as potentially America-breaking tour in front of them it does sound a bit dubious. Plus Curtis seemed to have far bigger life and death questions on his mind at the time.

I've not read Torn Apart, is there much in there about this?

I read somewhere Debbie and Steve saying that he would leave the band and open a bookshop in Holand in early 1980
