think this is the one where the got best video award for True faith,,Bernards speech reffered to andrew loyyd webber ,,when he said,, "not prepared a speech for this , but judging by andrews efforts dont realy need to,, only joking hese a good friend of ours...." taped it but probablly on betamax so no chance of digging that one out these days.

Dunno if there was any truth in it, but I seem to remember a rumour that Hooky didn't like True Faith and that was why his face did not appear in the Video.
Bernard looks more like Holly Johnson in that photo.
Not sure about Hooky not liking the track, but he was almost completely removed from the track by Steven Hague, who obviously doesn't know how to mix Hooky, and was almost completely removed from the video, other than his right foot!

There was definately an interview in the Daily Mirror at the time,where Rob,I think,states that TF was written purely to see if they could write a pop song & to fund a USA tour...then Hooky,when asked,says...'I don't care,I don't like it,but we're a democracy and I got outvoted....' 
Time for Sound on Sound to be linked again 
There are a few paragraphs on Hooky's input in the studio towards the end of the article "Planning Vs Jamming". Definitely very interesting with Hague admitting some regret over how the bass was mixed at the time. Seems like a nice bloke though and he definitely had a talent for producing classic synthpop singles.
Worth a read.

Think Hague hates the sound of Hooky's bass. He ruined its sound on all his NO productions.

Did you read what Hague actually said in the SoS interview? He speaks of Hooky and his contributions quite fondly. His reason for the bass parts being too low is as he freely admits down to his inexperience of mixing bass guitar as a lead instrument.
Seems fair enough to me.

He had a second chance in Republic and produced the same shit sound
So Regret is a shit sound? Don't think so, it's generally heralded as a quality tune and one of the Order's best; still sounds pretty modern even 17 years on.
Hague is an easy target to heap shit on by some fans in my opinion. He worked with what he had and did a pretty reasonable job and from the interview he seems like a nice enough bloke. Also and by the time of Republic the band weren't speaking and certainly weren't jamming all that much in the same studio. This could just as easily explain the lack of Hooky bass on the record.
I just think that saying Hague had a personal dislike of Hooky's bass sound is bollocks

It depends on the live performance obviously. If it's a choice between some dodgy audience recording where Barney is swearing tunelessly like a docker through the lyrics and Hooky's fluffing the bass notes then to be honest I'd rather have the studio version.
Live versions - no matter the quality - are absolutely brilliant if you're actually "there" in the crowd bouncing along but through headphones I mostly prefer the studio versions. With a few exceptions here and there.
For instance, I do think Perfect Kiss has an edge live.

I don't think Barney looks like Holly Johnson. OK,maybe...sort of.
Stephen however looks like a member of Duran Duran.
