Unless that's a piss-take, I can't understand how people can waste their time blogging about something they dislike so much.
Then again, everyone has the right to express their own opinions.

( or do all blogsites look like this (much ignorance in these things)). i'll wager whoever's responsible for this manc-nostalgia-bashing jollity lives within spitting distance of the secret tunnels under Manchester Cathedral which connect the Hacienda, Ian Curtis's grave, FAC251 and Shaun Ryder's crack lab in East Didsbury (just kiddin').

It's quite funny. 
Funny or not, they do have some very valid points. And you cant argue that. There are certain people, both in the music industry and in the media who just want to reference JD, NO, Stone Roses etc at every available opportunity.
Nice to see I'm not the only one whose sick of people harking back to the golden age that never was.

Fair point about being decribed as the new NO or the new JD. DELPHIC are often described as the new NO,but I think they're more a FRIENDLY FIRES crossed with ORBITAL.

Regarding the blog, close to the bone does seem the best way to describe it. As mentioned "bits" of it are accurate particularly the way it slates the music press for doling out New Order, Stone Roses or whoever labels to new bands. In a tap of a hack's keyboard a band's career is seemingly pigeon-holed forever "They're the new Roses/Joy Division! etc" = muso journalism at it's laziest worst. As they say Guardian (and NME) are the worst offenders generally.
As for the rest of it.... erm, bit harsh 
The Bez CD cover did make me laugh though.
There is also a hate blog, only dedicated to joy division. never read so much rubbish. :D i don't have the link anymore, but maybe that's better. But like some people aready said - it's nonsense to focus on a hate blog.
oh and hai, I am Killian and new here. JD and NO fan for half a year now - just discovered them. :)

I'm sorry but that blog pretty much articulates everything I've thought about all this Factory-Hacienda-Joy Division-Nostalgia fest that's developed over the last 18 months. I'm pretty sure there must be plenty of homegrown Mancs who feel exactly like the author does. It would embarrass me if there were so many backwards looking people in my city flogging the dead horse of glories past. Especially when the main protagonists appear to be doing it exclusively to turn a pound note and prop up failing careers.
Joy Division and New Order were always about exploring new things, new sounds,creativity and vibrancy. That's why they meant so much to us. The Factory Club, Bad Lieutenant/New Order Lite, Freebass, limited edition books at a hundred quid a pop....I just couldn't be less interested. What is there to get excited about in any of that? Somebody tell me! Especially when we're living in what I believe to be a golden era of popular culture with so much other stuff out there to get genuinely enthused about.
I still like visiting these boards as there's so many interesting people still contributing to them and I always will so long as they do but I just can't buy into any of this stuff that everyone else seems to be getting off on at the moment. It really confuses me. And like I said, the fella that wrote that blog seems to have summed it up far better than I could.
