Did hooky/claude flowers etc... ever sort out the remasters. Are the corrected/proper ones for sale in shops/internet yet OR are they still the shit ones sourced from vinyl/crackles/blips etc.. Refrained from buying them t'other year but rather fancy them now but only if corrected. Anyone......
And how do ya tell the difference of the 'new improved ones' Dont want someone palming me off with some skip shit eh

There are some comments in the last few pages of the LOG FILE THREAD (top POST at moment).I was in Manchester looking at some of these but could NOT tell if they are old or NEW.I don't own any of these yet too.

Allegedly, the ones without the plastic wrapping are the corrected ones (i.e. just a sticker on the front) - I just ordered replacement ones from Dr Rhino, so I dunno?
The new ones sound good to me - some people have found some problems with them, but they were probably problems with the initial tapes? :p
The master tapes for the studio albums (disc one of each set) are MISSING, so these aren't proper remasters, they're reissues. They're sourced from the Centredate CD pressings and they've been compressed to max out the volume so they sound terrible.
Most - but not all - of the errors on the second discs have been fixed, although some of the mixes still aren't the correct ones. In some cases those master tapes were located.
They look beautiful, but stick to your original Factory/London CDs for the audio.

Not true at all, where did you hear this? Original master tapes were used. It's a myth that all masters are lost.

Correction: In ALL cases the master tapes were located and used (for the fixed versions of course).
As I understood it the master tapes were used for the albums I.e. disc one of each reissue but when it came to the bonus discs those were sourced from vinyl or elsewhere. Not very well sourced either. Didn't Hooky admit at the time that this was due to those particular master tapes (non-album material) being "lost"? He mentioned the main album tapes were "safe" but as for the others...
To be fair the album discs of each reissue do sound alright but as always with a band like New Order a lot of people's favourite songs may be singles or non-album tracks and they were mostly massacred on the original bonus discs. The glitches and gloops in TBTHOG on the first pressing Brotherhood bonus disc are toe curlingly bad.
Apparently the replacement discs are much better but I haven't been arsed to order mine yet. Rhino didn't exactly go above and beyond to let the fanbase know what they should do to get them. No web site or email was sent out with instructions. It was up to fans to pester them to get an exchange arranged. Pretty poor.
In Europe I've only seen the corrected ones in the last few months. You can spot them by looking at the package from the top, if you see a booklet pressed between the two CDs in the digipak, it's the corrected one as they've included an extra booklet with song titles on the new edition. There's no other difference!
Don't worry about the sound quality on the corrected remasters. As far as I'm concerned despite the dropout on "Sunrise" and the non-remastering of "Technique" (sounds to me the same as the orginal Factory CD), they all sound very good, also the bonus discs. Especially the bonus discs are loud, but not too compressed, and NOT sourced from vinyl anymore. All other information is just the usual half-true moaning which goes on here forever.

Does that mean the ones for sale on Amazon are the new remastered ones or the old ones as it doesn't state which one. They disappeared from Amazon for a few months and now they are back....can anybody help?

Bought all the remaster cds from Amazon last month. They are ok though we can't see it written anywhere.

Cheers. I went into my local HMV in the UK today, seems like they do have the new ones although I'm not sure. Is the booklet in the new remasters coloured white? They cost £17.
