seeing as some of you lot seem to enjoy this kind of thing...a brief story concerning last nights event out with the bird and her friends...
we meet up at some noisy loud place, where I have to scream to be heard, always one of my favorites...but they have beers, so we are all happy...especially me, being surrounded by 6 attractive females...
but it just so happens that Siobhan and her group quite enjoy this abomination known as Karaoke, and I allow myself to be talked into going along. I'm dreading the whole event...but the girls have a way of persuading me...
finally, the question is asked...Jeff, will you be singing tonight???
response...the only fucking way I'm getting up there is if they have a New Order tune...of course, I know this won't happen, so I'm safe...right???
well...we get to the place...and one of the gals informs me that Blue Monday is on the list...
yeah, but I bet it's by Fats Domino...oops...assumption not entirely correct...it's Orgy...but they did cover the New Order tune...so they shame me into it...felt a bit odd, trying to do Barney styled vocals with that racket going on...but I think it went okay...
so I think my night of singing is done...dammit...wrong again...when I get back to the table, S has found something else...they have BLT at this establishment...
I start whining and complaining...but to no avail...you said you would sing New Order...and unless you want to sleep on the couch tonight....ouch...this girl has a vicious streak, for someone so young...
so by the time I get up for the second time, I've consumed a few more Hefeweizen's, and I'm feeling pretty cheeky by now...so I launch into it with full zeal, complete with whoops, bad dancing, and a little spin, which causes me to land flat on my ass (now that gets a round of applause from the crowd)...so feeling much embarassment...I go back to the table...where S and her best friend (who have heard more than their fair share of my concert discs) tell me it was just as good as Barney...I'm feeling pretty damn good about myself at the time...
but on the way to breakfast this morning, I recall this little comment, and realized, if it was as good as Barney, it must have been pretty awful...
thank goodness none of you had to be scarred by this experience...but now I don't know if I will ever be able to listen to BLT EVER again...
oh the shame...the agony...I think I might just have to move to some wonderful metropolis, like Lincoln, Nebraska....
okay...let's go have some beers now....
