For those interested, I have uploaded the Republic Interview CD which did the promo rounds just before the album was released in 1993. To a silent interviewer Bernard, Hooky, Steve and Gillian talk about what they've been up since Technique to and how Republic was written as well as touching on their respective side projects of the time. As per the strained events surrounding the recording they don't sound the happiest bunch at times...

The CD was never for sale and is reasonably rare so the band lose zero money by me making it available. There's no music whatsoever on it. If someone close to the band objects to it being available here just PM me and I'll take it down.

Otherwise, enjoy this obscure little mini-documentary of the era.

[SORRY, FILE HAS BEEN REMOVED AS OF SEPT 2011]

I may upload the Get Ready Interview disc soon.

Thank you so much! Even though Republic isn't my favorite album; I have lot of good memories of 1993 and the first time I got to see NewOrder live in concert in Chicago.

Think 1993 was my top NO fan/sick phase

I found this one on a big music fair in the place Utrecht in my country (april 1996) and paid 5 'gulden' (about 2,50 euros) for it...

I'll probably upload the Get Ready Interview this weekend. I'm also planning to upload the Electronic Twisted Tenderness Interview so check out Music for pleasure soon.

From the strained atmosphere of the Republic Interview we move onto the slightly more optimistic sounding 2001 Interview recorded to promote Get Ready's release. If you're keen on reading the transcript of questions vs the answers as they are spoken click here to see what they were.

(Once again, the CD in question was never available to buy, contains no copyrighted music, band loses no money etc etc.... Uploaded purely for fan enjoyment.)

Thanks for uploading both interviews CD's, as I've never heard them before, but is there a tracklisting available for the 1993 one? I've searched online everywhere, but can't seem to find one!...

Nah unfortunately I don't have the "transcript" as the CD face states. I assume the CDs were originally sent out with A4 press sheets including the questions but in this instance I was out of luck when I bought the Republic one years ago.

I've put the Twisted Tenderness interview in MFP so head on over there for it...

Well, no worries as I've managed to do a transcript of it myself, which is below, as most of the questions are easy to work out from the answers they give. So here it is!:

NEW ORDER - 'REPUBLIC' INTERVIEW CD (1993)

Tracklisting:

1.) So, what have you been upto since the last album - 1989's 'Technique'? 2.) Did you enjoy doing the Revenge project? 3.) You appear to be more happier now doing your solo project, Electronic - is that true? 4.) So, what's next for Electronic & is it true that you've signed to EMI? 5.) Is it true that you've done a solo album & what's it called? 6.) It's taken you a while to make your album - is that true? 7.) How do you come up with the titles for your songs & albums? 8.) How long did it take to make the album? 9.) Did any problems in the studio delay things slightly? 10.) Wouldn't it have been easier if you had not had a producer involved? 11.) Do you like working with a producer? 12.) Do you find doing the vocals is a lot easier now than before? 13.) 'Regret' - Why did it take you & Stephen Hague so long to record this track? 14.) Why isn't the new album as dance-based like the previous one was? 15.) What remixes are going to be on the 12' single of 'Regret'? 16.) Who's directing the video for 'Regret'? 17.) What will the 2nd single from the album be? 18.) 'Ruined In A Day' was a hard song to record - why? 19.) Why don't you want to release 'World' as the 2nd single? 20.) Are you hoping to tour the new album? 27.) Does touring still feel that important for you now? 28.) Were the rumours true that both Bernard & Peter wanted to leave the group (to do their solo projects etc)? Was a New Order split ever discussed as such? 29.) How have you survived as a group for so long? 30.) Peter, can you introduce a track from the new album, 'Republic'? 31.) Peter, can you introduce your new single, 'Regret'? 32.)
