I kinda agree, but is is surely their one ESSENTIAL record. As for the NME list.....its just pandering to what's most directly influential upon what The Kidz are listing to these days. I remember when the NME's job was to educate people about music history rather than simply flatter the narcissism of its readership.
But then I also remember the glorious moment that the wheel was invented. Oh, happy days.
I only glanced at it, but got the impression that it was voted for by the kidz themselves, no?
And therefore is reflective of the little bleeders opinions, rather than being designed to flatter them?

Why the Cure and Smiths so prominently? They're okay but not THAT worthy of such praise.
Never understood the draw to the Smiths nor U2. I thin PC&L and Low Life have more musical mastery then any of the piss The Smiths released.

It is indeed a thing of wonder, especially given that it takes Hooky 6 months to squeeze out a turd these days.
Whilst it is wonderful to find New Order so highly appreciated, I thought the 1980s were a time when musicians had something to say for themselves.
