Hi, i'm thinking of having Run Wild for the first dance at my wedding. Does anyone know what the song is actually about. We like it particularly for the chorus lyrics "you're the kind of person . . . " but i'm not sure about the religious references and the line " Jehova knows, i've been sinful ". Is it about someone who's dying ? " when Jesus comes to take your hand".

thanks for your help . . .

It'll be a good do once Bernard tells everyone to "live to get high"

For what it's worth (ie not much) some people thought that it was written by Steve and/or about his daughter who wasn't well. However, on the iTunes special thing that New Order did, there was an interview with Barney who said that he wrote it and that the subject matter was 'too personal' to discuss.

I don't think it's about anything in particular, just a pretty song with some good lines (and some bad ones) and killer bass/melodica interplay in the instrumental break.

in the David Nolan book, Bernard says its about his own children

I like that song. Wouldn't have it as my first dance though. A mate of mine had 'Girls Girls Girls' by Motley Crue as his first dance. Him and his missus liked to rawk you see.

This is backed up in the Q review out at the time.

I never heard a greater contrast between two songs at one album: Rock the Shack and Run Wild. Crazy! Rock the Shack is horrormusic and Run Wild is hopeful and tender. If the marriage is a new begin after a turbulent past, I think it's appropriate.

Hi mate, I had it as the first dance at my wedding!!!!

I also had the New Order instrumental done for the Peter Saville exhibition as the background music as people arrived for the ceremony.

Go for it.

I'd recommend not using the Wireless live version though

Maybe Bad Lt is available to play live or at least acoustic at your wedding... you could always inquire. Free drinks and food for the band.

Wasn't it about Rob Gretton?
