met all original new order plus rob gretton in the car park of the sobell centre in the afternoon of the gig-1985. We had gone over to the venue for a reckie and to see if we could sneak into the soundcheck like we did at blackburn, evading security. They arrived in a big black granada I think. We chatted about the upcoming (or previous) gig in Manchester since my friend and I went to both. They were friendly and appreciative, if quiet. We got their autographs on a scrap piece of paper and later a broken drumstick tossed into the crowd.

Met Peter Hook as part of Revenge in 1990, The Dial Derby. Watched the semi final England match with him, top bloke but was a bit shy at 17 to talk to him. He played a video game with my mate.

Met Steve and Gillian as I recently reported on here at a Cold Cave / Factory Floor gig. Top people really chatty and a good laugh.

Shook Bernards hand at a Bad Lieu gig in Sheffield.

Only other famous people I've met (all with a NO connection) are springwatch crew, Chris Packham is a New Order fan. Met Keith Allen and he has connections with NO. Oh and Pete Kember (Sonic Boom) Spacemen 3 / Spectrum who is very chatty with the fans (he probably likes NO)

perhaps it's hard for your paths to cross when one of you is floating around the carribian on a yacht, while the other is running all around the world playing in different band, djing, running (marketing?) a club and getting on telly as much as possible.

I didn't think he was that small, I'm 6'2" and he doesn't llok like a dwarf stood next to me, OK I stooped a little, but I wouldn't say he's as small as people make out. (or Bernard for that matter as I think they're about the same height, before someone says "Jed you'd crawl naked through broken glass to put matches in his shit!")

Sorry, can't agree with that Jed, there seems to be a perception that Bernard is on a boat in some far out place but when I bumped into him a couple of weeks back he said he was off to the south coast. Also, Hookey seems to ne home most weekend when I walk by. Maybe they should take a listen to the Gary Barlow/Robbie Williams song and have a think about it!

For me a last hurrah would bring perfect closure to the whole JD/NO era and what they need to understand is that in the main it's the music we love and are not interested in their ego's and fall outs

Mmmm... Jed when you complain that some folk on here insinuate that you brown-nose a certain bass player too much, posts like this really don't help. The inference here comes off as: Bernard does bugger all while Hooky barely has time to stop for a cuppa and is a man of the people. Lest we forget that Bernard was writing, promoting and touring Bad Lieutenant well before we heard a note of Hooky's stuff? Credit where it's due...

As for meeting the band, I've probably shared most of the recent Hooky autographing and DJing events of the past couple of years as everyone else. First met Hooky at the final "proper" Monaco gig in London in 2000 and he was as pissed as a fart but extremely friendly. Arthur Baker was wandering around in the background which was a bit surreal. Had the pleasure of meeting Bernard and Phil at the Bad Lieutenant FNAC signing in Paris last year which was also very enjoyable.

Good point,fair enough, I'll try to be less biased and less of an arse in future. I'm sure Bernard is very hardworking, it's just that you don't see/hear of it as much, some might say that's because he's less of a media whore than Hooky.

A couple of years ago a mate of mine who is a psychiatric nurse directed Stephen and his daughter around Macclesfield hospital as they were late for an appointment. He said he was very friendly and a little whacky.

Like everyone on here I hold out hope for a reconcilliation but Im surprised at how many folk think it would be a 'Farewell Tour' type of thing. Id like to think if they got back together (with Gillian) it would be for another album and all the gubbins that goes along with it.

As for meeting them I would probably either stand and piss myself or simply go mute. Or both.

i also saw hooky at the gretton thing,as me and a couple of mates left i spotted hooky just about to get into a people carrier according to my mates(i was leathered...but kind of remember it)i said "sorry about this but i'm going to make a dick out of myself..." and i shouted "hooky" which was apparently really high pitched,ran down the stairs outside the ritz and slid across a car bonnet to shake his hand and said thanks

I met Hooky in the queue for the guestlist at a Mondays gig at the ritz in 2007 (I think). He was a bit abrupt but I felt like I had waited my entire life for that moment and I didnt act myself by any means

Then, when I was working at Apple, after dealing with the worlds biggest arsehole, I turn around and Stephen Morris is stood there with a hard drive in his hand, waiting to be served.

Needless to say, I got a mate to take a photo and he seemed really happy to stay and chat for about 15 mins.

Then I met hooky again at an in store last year. Signed loads of my rare new order items and thanked me for buying them etc.

Yet to meet Bernard and Gillian but I'm certain it will happen some day soon

43 years ago this month was when I first met Bernard and Peter in Johnny Barkers maths lesson. First day at big school. Five years later they left school. I carried on. Didnt meet Peter again until Ian Curtis' tribute night in Manchester in 2005. He was ahead of me walking towards Exchange Square. I quickened my pace and caught him up. "I've been trying to catch up with you for 33 years" I said. "Fuckin hell you must have been walking slowly" he said.

Saw Bernard, Hooky, Steve and Gillian outside the Civic Hall after at their last gig in Wolverhampton. The miserable twats drove off in their Audis and Range Rovers without signing any autographs or talking to fans. Album royalties are a wonderful thing, obviously.

On a brighter note, have met Bob Carolgees and Spit The Dog (google them), though, so my life ain't all that bad.
