"I wish to apologise unreservedly to Peter Hook and his family regarding comments made on a social networking site which was totally out of character for me. It was a venomous, spiteful reaction to a lot of things that are going on in my life right now and I chose to vent my frustrations and anger at one of my true friends in this filthy business, and ventured into territory which was none of my concern. The Freebass thing has tipped me over the edge and became the focus of my bilious rants. Twenty two years of being tripped up, face down in the mud and being kicked in the face with an iron boot will do that to the most stable of men. I hope I havent blown a great friendship forever. Sorry Pete"

Aye, you've had such a tough twenty year's of it Mani. All that success, adulation and being in paid employment for so long must be a right pain in the arse to deal with.

I hope Mani's learnt his lesson about the dangers of social networking. Gone down in many people's estimation with all that drivel about how he's a legend and everyone loves him. Hardly very self-effacing!

As for his rants helping drive sales ('In the fuckin bargain bin before it’s even released')? Hmm, going to have to have a think about that one...

That's a good PR stunt they pulled both of them. Had me convinced. They managed to raise awareness and advertise their album.

I was thinking the same thing. I also think the whole Kanye/Taylor Swift controversy from last year was orchestrated by their management.

Mani and Ian Brown have always gone on about being legends and everybody loving them in interviews. It's apparently a prerequisite to be a big swinging dick if you're an ex-Stone Rose (with the quiet exception of Squire and Reni).

Well I'm not, but might have been bothered if album was good and not likely to end up on the bargain bins as eloquently put by Mani.

I was just curious as the Guardian article said 'Mani appears to have rejoined Freebass, the group comprising him, Hook and Gary Briggs.'

I thought that the insults were far too deep for us to realistically accept the 'managed' apology and acceptance, as 'heartfelt', so was thinking Freebass gigs might be interesting, if not for the potential implosion of crashing basses physically on each other.

I'd pay a tenner, if that was the case, but I'm sure 'Freeass' would put up some notice about 'no unauthorised photography' again.
