Last night i fired up the Brotherhood album on Spotify and heard the track Weirdo again after a long time...

I forgot what a great track this is! some good drumming by good old steve, Barney battering on the guitar and hooky pounding away on the bass. The last two instrumental minutes of the track really, euuhm...rock?

How was this track live? any good versions around?

I also like the one done at Fulcrum Slough, gets a little shouty, has some interesting 'loose' lyrics. :evil4:

Brotherhood's a good album for throwing on a listening end to end like that.

Theres summat about the way Bernard sings 'Weirdo' that always makes me think its all just off the cuff, spontaneous. He probably sweated for hours (minutes) writing the lyrics but they sound really effortless.

Never a truer statement for the time.

Brotherhood is a surprisingly great album to listen to - and the only track I skip is the very last one EveryLittle Counts. Simply cos it's childishness soon grates. Ditto Low Life with the exception of SubCulture.

Funny how we're re-evaluating the older NO albums now and regarding them with fondness. I guess we're getting old..... :p :shades:

Brotherhood is a vastly underated album, it's got some fantastic tracks, weirdo is one of the best, I agree every little counts gets a bit tiresome, but I just remember the first time I listened to the album, not knowing anything about the ending, being a bit pissed and lying on my bed, headphones on thinking, this has gone a bit trippy, then the scratch sound happened and I shat myslef!
