Reminds me of the story of the footballer who was contracted to play in one manufacture's boots, but took some money to play in another make. So he went out to play with one of each on.

I wondered me, Bernard and Phil had converse shoes at the Electric Picnic. Maybe they changed their shoe sponsors in the new season.
Bernard's complexion is going a bit Sir Alex Ferguson. I suppose the common denominator is that balmy north-west climate. Oh, and the preference for a few jars to take the edge of the working day.
About To celebrate the creativity and diversity of the UK music scene, Hot Chip, Bernard Sumner and Hot City have collaborated on an exclusive new track for Converse to be released on Wednesday. They will also be featuring in an upcoming music video. Keep your ears open for a series of remixes by other UK artists and check back over the next few weeks for more artist films and information on our Converse music tour.
The collaboration is the start of Converse’s year-long celebration of UK music. A second single, released in January, will feature Paloma Faith, Blur’s Graham Coxon and Bill Rider-Jones, formerly of The Coral, bringing together new acts and musical greats to create something never heard before.

I think Bernard looks great for his age, his face is probably a little red from the wind, not from being a drunk.
I like Bernard's outfit here, very stylish. He has been dressing nicely these past few years, certainly better than he did in 2001-2002. I really like that coat he is wearing.
Also, I think he may have highlights and lowlights in his hair (nothing wrong with that either).

I don't much about this company sponsor stuff though. (Well, I'm aware that the Japanese national football team is sponsored by Adidas, and Dunhill, but that's another issue and topic, I suppose.

Well, firstly I think your default assumption can be that any such comments are made with affection, rather than malice aforethought. It might get a little limiting if we restrict ourselves to complimenting BS on his scarves or, indeed, his shoes. Rest assured, there have been pretty long threads on the latter before and the verdict was overwhelmingly positive for Bernard's fashion sense.
Secondly, the ability to give and take a bit of teasing is part of what makes Sumner the person he is. The same goes for Hook, just as the same went for Gretton etc.
Finally, Zachery, a "few jars" (my words) do not a "drunk" (your word) make. Not where I come from in the vodka belt, and not in Manchester either.

Love the Summer Days instrumental, would kill to have that. As has been said, Barney looks incredible for his age, he's certainly more stylish, and he looks happy, most important thing.

I listened to "I Didn't Know What Love Was" nonstop as I took the subway to work today, and then nonstop on the way back.
It's a fantastic track! Bernard and Alexis, the singer from Hot Chip, plus the fat bloke from Hot Chip, plus the guy from Hot City (whoever they are), and possibly Steve Morris...is that the right cast for this number?
Song is great. Very, very four to the floor and housey, full of gorgeous piano, synth, and string runs and some footstomping beats. Song has Bernard and Alexis duetting on the choruses and Bernard sings the chorus with Alexis backing him, kind of like Bernard and Neil Tennant on Patience of a Saint and Getting Away With It.
The song definitely has an Electronic vibe and sound. I think the the piano and string parts are Bernard, for sure. And the lyrics have a classic Bernard Sumner line: "What was once a waste is now in a state of grace".
Great song! Look forward to the video. Can Bernard get round to doing that record with Stuart Price now?
Since New Order split, Bernard has done Miracle Cure with Blank and Jones, released the Bad Loo record and toured it, started a dance record with Stuart Price, and now this track...not bad, he is making new music at least. :)

On a Japanese music-related news site, I saw the blog entry for this song (+ the Converse vid), and it said that Stephen was involved.
I figured Steve would be involved, seeing as over the years he's done loads better with synths etc.

I agree, I thought that Sumner was a strange choice to promote such gear. Don't think a lot of youngsters out there will be interested in the old guy, or even know who he is (my own kids excluded of course). Anyway, it's provided us with a cracking tune so that's ok.

I don't think a lot of you guys realize just how popular New Order and Joy Division are with a lot of indie kids/art school kids/people in general in their late teens and twenties. They are both well liked and talked about a lot, and any club I go to always plays New Order.

You are right whenever I go to Webster Hall in NYC and in the basement they have an Indie/Electronic floor and whenever they play BLT or Blue Monday the people go crazy and they are young college kids in their 20's, their music still makes people go crazy.
There are some posters up advertising this on Newton Street, Manchester. Barney and a couple of twits plastered onto the wall opposite the Post Office. They are half ripped off - not sure if this is intentional or not.

Yup! That is Friday night TRASH at Webster Hall and they play tons of New Order. I go every Friday (friends of my DJ it).
