Bernard to remix Depeche Mode

Yes, Martin provided about half of the financing for Control as a favor to Anton Corbijn when Corbijn was low on funds.

As for Alana Wilder, he was/is a talented musician and arranger with a great ear for production.

But Martin Gore is a brilliant songwriter. I saw him perform solo in LA in 2003. He did voice and piano versions of his Depeche Mode songs and the were just as beautiful and moving as the fully produced ones.

Listening to Martin Gore's recently released demo's for DM songs reveals that 85 percent of the finished released DM songs are his vision, with polishing from Wilder. ETS is an exception, as it was Wilder's idea to give it a house beat. But this notion that Wilder was the songwriting brains behind DM is absurd. Gore still writes great songs, "Precious, "Lillian", and "In Symptathy" being recent favorites of mine.

I was also at Gore's solo gig in LA in 03'. He was/is pretty amazing!

Perhaps the poster meant the music rather than the words. I do remember reading in the biog that Wilder was, er, instrumental in the musical arrangements, including the live arrangments, during the Black Celebration to SOF&D era.

Wilder did the music, Gore wrote the words, Gahan sang the words and Fletch kind of stopped them all killing each other.

Martin Gore wrote the words AND music. The lyrics, melodies, and chrod structures of the songs are his. Whilder helped with productiona nd arrangement, that is not actually writing the music. Gore wrote the music and lyric. Refer to his demo versions of DM songs, some of them are very similar to the finished, released songs.

Jeez, I only meant he was more on the moosic side than the lyrics. OK, you win, Gore Did The Music. That means I can blame him for them going downhill, musically, since Ultra (In only my opinion).

I know Bernards Produced many tracks but what tracks has he actually remixed before. I cant think any at the moment?

I recall that one, was on the erm ninja tutrtles 3 soundtrack, and I believe Bernard could do a track like Policy of truth.

Yeah I remember that! In fact I still have the CD single somewhere - I think its called ROCKING OVER THE BEAT or sumthing like that..unfortunately that was the low point of Technotronic's 2-hits career :D

I always had a soft spot for the third single, "This Beat is Technotronic". Some people said MC Eric could never match Ya Kid K's flair behind the mic. I say those people are WRONG.
