Doubts Even Here - the double-vocal

The lyrics on the Movement LP are often difficult to decipher because of the production, but do people have their own idea of what the lyrics are in the final verse of Doubts Even Here?

Many lyrics sites recall them as such:

(The number of forgotten years where my honour isn't deepest grows the deepest feeling and it grieved for safety and despair) There's nowhere left to go, where is this taking her and how? I hear "gravely suffered in despair" as opposed to "grieved for safety and despair" and I don't hear "defiance" at all, but much of it is just impossible. Any thoughts?

Pretty sure it's "Has God forgotten to be gracious?"

...which is from the Bible, no idea which book. I figured they were reading a doom-n-gloom passage from the Bible as it fits the atmosphere of the song and doesn't sound remotely similar to their usual lyrics.

Just Googled it - "Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies?" from Psalm 77

She's definately saying this line - though the rest of it doesn't match up at all.

I've always wondered what she was saying in this song.

Ah, thanks for that! Very interesting stuff. I've tried 'Googling' particular words from the other lines accompanied by "Bible quotes" but can't find anything that fits.
