Hi I'm surprised no one's started this yet so I thought I would. Given that the last two years have been relatively productive (BL in 2009, Freebass in 2010), what can we look forward to this year? My thoughts... HOOKY - Finishing off the Unknown Pleasures tour. MAYBE going on to tour Closer and even New Order albums, in which case (a) we'll slag him off but go along anyway, and (b) Lord help us if he reaches 'Republic'. ... Also the two tracks with Nick Hussey: dance version of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (yes, it's as bad as it sounds) and a new track called "Salty": already downloadable, maybe they'll get physical release. I quote Hooky: "My next plan is a soundtrack to Hacienda CCTV footage of New Year's Eve 1995, with Phil Murphy as Man Ray. Also we're doing an EP of Joy Division covers with Rowetta and I aim to begin writing with The Light." This is asking for trouble but at least the EP'll let us hear a polished studio take on 'Pictures'. BL - new album in the works we hear, but I'd give it a while - 2012, perhaps? O2 - same as. October? Which friggin' October? Meanwhile their website includes the odd gem. And I mean odd. Bernard meant to be remixin' Depeche? And recorded with Westbam and Digitalism? Those Sirens out-takes - I doubt it very much. If they're 'unfinished' the band'd have to get back together, surely. Unless one of 'em does a kiss-of-life job like Bernard on 'Best Of'? Plus, how would London treat a six-or-so bunch that was rejected five years ago? Maybe they could come out on a remaster, but look at the track record there. Monaco revamp like 'One True Passion V.02' - DVD of Joy Division Plan K - DVD of remastered Here Are The Young Men - NO box set of singles: variously mooted, ne'er coming to pass. Oh and I heard Hook's writing books on JD and NO respectively! Anyfink I missed?

My opinion? PFD, Academy, Montreux 1993 all remain unreleased on DVD. The long mooted NO archive of live material remains officially unreleased but sneaked out on blogs. Bernard yachts around the world. Stephen oversees another JD Box Set. Hooky tours "Closer" with Mick Hucknall on vocals, before releasing a yellow vinyl shaped set of 7x9" picture discs of 18 seperate re-recordings of "Elephant Stone" which are numbered and limited to 176 copies and only available with the "Unique Edition" of his latest book 'How to pretend to DJ with a pre-compiled CD', which costs £4,566 and comes with Hooky playing a gig to a DAT tape in your bedroom.
In all seriousness, stop this Zune and Limited vinyl EP shit, just stick the stuff out on a format that is affordable and accessable.

Couldn't agree more mate! I got into 'em in '89 when it was all thrillingly-enclothed vinyl and piss-off-will-you interviews! I was just curious as to what people can expect 2011.

Yeah, last I read it got scrapped and I've not read anything definitive since saying it's back on. He's allegedly doing a second Bad Loot album at the moment so I doubt it's back on.

Theres a tiny mention of it in this months Mojo with Neil Young on the cover,seeming to suggest it's on the way this year,maybe they have got it mixed up with the BL project..
Either way, regardless of the quality of the music, it seems that Bernard is planning to make new pieces of music.
Maybe I'm confused but my impression was that the Stuart Price thing had been scrapped. I think there was once a Barnster reference was to 'an EP that was too dancey for release under the BL banner', which could indeed have been the start of the Stu project. I know just as much as you do, probably less! Haven't seen this month's Mojo, I'd be interested in what it actually says in there.

What Mojo suggests is that they (Price and Bernard)are reconvening in January to finish what they began while the BL album was being recorded,
There is also a quote by Bernard:
"I wanna see what the track's saying to me. The first five minutes I might s*** myself, and go, I've got this great backing track but what the hell am I going to write about? But the night goes on and I crack open a bottle of wine and then...it's gone from a chore writing vocals and lyrics, to something that absolutely enchants me." Bernard is also umimpressed by the cd's need for 70 minutes of music, "Ten tracks and that's it," he says "If the record company wants more,tell them to f**k of". Presumably that qoute is from an interview from sometime last year,so pretty vague then overall.
Bernard has been talking a lot more in interviews, but it's pretty obvious that he bullshits, or talks hyperbole. He first sounded like that the Stuart Price collab was almost done, then said is wasn't even really started for real. And who are these record labels demanding how many songs he write? These are indie labels, they know who Bernard is and what kind of of music he has produced. Bernard can do whatever he wants to some extent, there is no major label games. Hopefully will do whatever he wants and have fun. Most of it will be forgotten in less than a year anyway at this point.

My fave Barnster quote was to Radio 1 promoting Forbidden City: 'Do New Order plan to record together again?' - 'New Order have absolutely no intention of ever working together again.' 'So you've split up?' - 'I can categorically state that New Order have not split up.'
Leather hit the nail on the head there. But in among all the reworking, Hooky did some new stuff. When was that? The 88 stuff? Bloody brilliant that is.
Given the awesomeness of the Hot Chip collab all I care about would be the Stuart Price/Sumner album.,..I hope this happens
