I was in my local indie shop today and bought this containing an "exclusive remix" of Sub-Culture. It was released in 1986 so I am doubtful its not been heard on here, but on playing it sounds like a cross between the awful single mix and the far superior album version.

Has anyone heard this or have any info? How rare is it?

The link about the EP says it has never been released officially since. Mixed by Razormaid apparently not John Robie.

There are actually three different Razormaid mixes. The Record Mirror 'exclusive remix' is an edit of one of those (can't remember which one off the top of my head)

Possibly my favourite remix. Done by Sarn West, fook knows how many copies were pressed, but it isnae that hard to find. I stole my Uncle John's version off him till he realised I had it, then he picked one up on Ebay for me :thumb:

It's not that rare really - you can pick them up pretty easily on Ebay or in charity shops.

The FreeEPs is my website - this is why I started really as, even though they're not worth much, they contain some incredible stuff if you look hard enough e.g. one of them (it's on the site somewhere) contains a rare early version of Moving In With Happy Mondays - the sleeve doesn't credit it as an early version as it came out before the album version but, unless you knew already, you wouldn't know it unless you took it home and played it.

The free single that came with Sounds [think it was Sounds]? Got that somewhere, think it had tracks by Stump and another band or two. Was it a flex-disc?

I picked this up for around 30p (minus the mag tho') at a flea market around 1990. Received wisdom: it's far better than the official Robie mixes. True, so I was surprised to read Razormaid mixed it, they've never done much for me! PS Am I wrong, or is Subculture the only single that never had a vid? Even Ceremony, EGG and Temptation ended up with vids circa 05/06... PPS Stump, that takes me back...

Can anyone PM a FLAC of the track this mix was edited down from (I believe it's the Sarm West mix)? Dan
