It appears Martin Rushent has died, producer of the Genetic demos (obviously). I wonder how the JD's would have done if he had produced their first album.

Seems strange that it's not confirmed yet, sad though, he was interviewed in sound on sound last year and was getting back into making music.

Not sure any of the JD albums would have been better under Rushent, but Movement wuld have been an appropriate time for them to change producer, and would have coinsided with him getting into electronic stuff himself.

Very sad news , produced stranglers, buzzcocks, xtc, and that awesome DARE.......turn the heaters up in Heaven.

Love and dancing.

Never knew he produced Shelley's HOMOSAPIEN too! Love his HUMAN LEAGUE stuff, and ALTERED IMAGES' SEE THOSE EYES/I COULD BE HAPPY 12"s

Even though the J.D Genetic Demos aren't a patch on Hannett material, we have lost a legend. A very innovative producer who bands were lucky to have. I'm not sure about him producing New Order, as he had a very generic sound in the early 1980's and they wanted a style of their own, but certainly one of the best ever record producers.

Will be much missed.
