In an attempt to be reasonably positive for a change let's try to talk about the wealth of New Order's music (not Joy Division for a change) which is never included on the treadmill of official compilations nor ever really acknowledged by the band themselves. The "other" songs which have propped up the various albums and singles throughout the years and can often be as good as or better than the "chosen" singles but rarely get a mention.
To start off purely because it came up on my iPod by chance this evening I'll choose 'Sabotage' which was released as the B side to '60 Miles An Hour' in 2001 and no doubt was in the running to be on 'Get Ready' at some point too. Originally titled 'Run This River Dry' it's just a fantastic track really; all the way from the understated intro, Barney's lyrics about shaking the blues away to the treated synth line and acoustic guitar outro. How it never made it onto 'Get Ready' but Rock The bleeding Shack did, I'll never know. Definitely a bit of a hidden gem.
