What is your favourite New Order-ish sounding track or album by another artist(excluding any side-project work that NO members have been involved in)?

for me it's the "You Cross My Path" album by The Charlatans. EXCELLENT album, very New Order sounding and something of a surprise after their previous few duff albums.

Try listening to "The Misbegotten" off the album and you'll see what I mean. It's the album NO should have made.

You Cross My Path seconded. It's a great album, the best they've done in ages. Their latest, Who We Touch--not so much.

Adore by Smashing Pumpkins has some good tunes but Biily Corgans vocals may be a slight turn off for some..:nono:

'You Cross My Path' is pretty good, yep. They released it for free back in 2008 as well. Still listening to the same set of MP3s I downloaded at the time  As noted, The Misbegotten is a very obvious nod towards NO... towards the end of the song I really thought Hooky might have been guesting with them as the bass was so similar.

Worth checking out - in fact, the album's still available (legally) for free here on the XFM site. It's in 192kbps MP3 format but better than nothing.

The title track bears more than a passing resemblance to Sunrise, too...

Section 25's "From the Hip" album. Might has well have been New Order.

I'd align these with late 80's-period NO...

A Certain Ratio - Good Together LP; also Jez Kerr's projects including 24 Hours

Boxcar - Vertigo LP (this was an Australian band on the Volition label - same guys who ran Factory Australia)

Beloved - Happiness LP

Cabaret Voltaire - Groovy Laidback and Nasty LP (from the Cabs' smooth commercial period)

...and then of course anything produced by the Bemusic collective...

and anything on my label :shades:

Slightly off-focus, but one of my favourite albums of the year so far, Feel It Break by Austra, constantly reminds me of From The Hip...
