I listened to it and both Day and Hook came across very well, but yet again Hook has to tell stories that didn't exist. He claimed that 'When we were Joy Division, two girls came up to us and asked "Are you in Simply Red?".
Simply Red didn't exist until 1985, so what's he on about? I'm no fan of theirs, but I saw Hook on his Howard Marks tour and he seems to have a thing about Mick Hucknall. I didn't take Hook too seriously as you can tell that sometimes he just telling stories. Sometimes it's best to say nothing at all, so Rob Gretton was right...
Hooky has mentioned that story about the 2 girls before, in the 2006 interview he did for the Red Bull Music Academy, but on that occasion he said the name of the band they wanted to see were called The Frantic Elevators, who were an earlier incarnarion of Simply Red & featured Mick Hucknall. In the Simon Day interview, he just got his facts slightly mixed-up etc!...
However, I do think he has a slight problem with Hucknall though, as in the same interview (at around 4.10 minutes in), when he's mentioning some of his friends from the Manchester musis scene, he calls him a ginger-haired twat! :)
