Uncly John sussing we could drink free beer all day at the Carling beer tents in '98, Carling were handing out free pints by marking yer wristband with a marker, not realising it was a piece of piss to remove said marker and get free beer all day, Add to the fact that it was sunny and one of the best Neworder gigs I'd ever seen, plus they re-introduced Joy Division songs, it was just about a perfect day as you could get. When I say just about, they did spoil it by playing WIFM ![]()
Happy Birthday Unc ![]()
Was at 93 and 98. Didn't make it to the 89 one.
98 was a great night.Possibly the best NO gig i saw. Headliners Garbage had no chance after that ![]()
i used to watch that bootleg video a hell of a lot after a night on the pills...them where the days![]()
i'm surpirsed arcade fire aren't in the list the first time they played in a tent, not sure of the year
quality gig
Reading 98 was a great gig. Was standing near Hooky near the front. Remember someone saying to me after a few songs "They could record this gig, release it as an album, and it'd be better than half their stuff".
Heart and Soul was amazing at this gig, hadn't heard them do it before.
Also remember you could see WIFM on the set sheet on the big screens briefly before they played it, obviously accidental by the cameraman, but it happened - so I knew it was coming before they played it.
Had the tickets for Phoenix that year IIRC, and it was cancelled and New Order moved to Reading as a result.
Garbage were.

Watched a couple of Beady Eye songs Friday night. God they're awful. Liam Gallagher
Oh.Dear.Dreadful vocals. Twat.
Watched Pulp last night. First few songs i was just thinking nah it's not really happening for Pulp now in 2011 is it, Jarvis. They got a bit better though, 'This Is Hardcore' was better than stuff like 'Sorted For E's and Whizz'. Shame they didn't do 'Help The Aged' though.

I saw Pulp doing Common People last night and it seems that the have recaptured what ever it is that they had in their prime, then I switched over to BBC4 to watch the Bill Hicks Doc..
