As far as studio versions, um... Sunrise!

God there's loads. Ceremony, Leave Me Alone. Every track on lowlife (especially this time of night, elegia, STYT and subcultures). Paradise, BLT, SOTN, Crystal.

He often wept during that final, epic, 7 minute solo. Who could blame him. Simply majestic.

Liar's got a fantastic little bass solo somewhere down the line, if you can get past the first three mins or so of said song (no mean feat in itself).

Anyway I will go with TPK.

Urgh. Hookys awful miming, Steve doing some very odd body shapes and a nice close up of Gillian not touching the keys. Lol

I like this performance video of World, mainly because I think all of them look really cool and well dressed and slick....this is what I imagined New Order looked like before I ever saw photos of them. And I like seeing Bernard play the synth. Hooky played the low bass riff (which is one of the main hooks of the song actually) live...I tried it once, its fun and easy to play.

I think his bass work on TPK is brilliant.

I do like a nicely turned out pop group. And I always thought Hooky looked the best at this point.

Although not an obvious pick ... 2:03 - 2:43 frrom The 12" version of Round & Round really does it for me. Pure high bass bliss!!!

one of my favourite bits too, weird considering it was produced by hague.

I especially like Steve's "mini-solo" that aroused the audience! Hooky seems to be really enjoying to take the piss out of the whole thing!

He played bass on it live, just like Ruined in a day.

He might be playing along to the programmed bassline but it is hard to hear any bass guitar sound actually coming through on those two songs..

That is exactly what he is doing. A few years ago, I sent Hooky an email on Myspace asking him if he just played along to the low programmed bass parts live and he wrote back saying:

"Yep, on the Republic tracks, when we played them live I just played the low bass parts over the programmed bass. it was easy enough!".

Yeah, fair play to him for admitting it,he could have gone off to wash his hair while those two songs were being played..
