Think she deserves her own thread.

Great to see her back.

Read the SOS article about the maaking of True Faith to hear about how she comes up with those wonderful synth and keyboard melodies that we all love so much, and that have been missing a bit from NO the past few years.

Gillian is a gem. I am happy she is back. Cannot wait to see her play!

So, on tracks like TF, BLT, TPK, BM, ect, are both Gillian and Phil gonna play keyboards?

Phil could never play the keys on TF as well as Gillian could. TF is a tough song to play!

It would be nice if they went old school with Gillian, but with the 2005-6 version of New Order the synths seemed "prepared" more than live. Hopefully New Order live will try not be NO karaoke.

Cannot agree more! New Order were famous for playing their electro stuff live back in the 80s. But Bernard's obcession with perfection on stage has taken a wrong turn. I don't want to hear what I can hear in a studio version. The extreme of such attitude is just to mime everything: that's perfection. No matter how fucked up their playing may be, it is better than listening to pre-recorded tracks.

Phil's keyboards on TF, BLT, TPK, Krafty, Crystal, were all totally live and were the exact same parts that Gillian played. Some of the string pads and what not are sequenced, but they were in Gillian's day as well.

Phil didn't play the synth parts for the second and thrid verses of TF as Gillian did...they were too hard. Listen...the synth parts on Verses 2 and 3 of TF are differrent that Verse 1. Gillian played all them, Phil couldn't.

She's a major reason I got into New Order in the first place, some 24 years ago, so I'm delighted to see her back too. :)

You are most welcome! I had to learn True Faith for a charity gig I played a few years ago...it is a tough song and learning it gave me new respect for Gillian. :)

Ah, shit.

Means Shug can't add another name to his spreadsheet detailing who's doing what, when and where, how they take their coffee and tea, and what colour underpants they're wearing on tour (if any).

And I am not joking about his spreadsheet.

It's not a spreadsheet.

It's a Word document.

Not being one who plays by the rules as most of ye's know.

I'm saying it's a spreadsheet.

And on Microsoft Word. In fact I've probably just invented the world's first Microsoft Word Spreadsheet on one page. I think that deserves a few beers in Belgium & France
