Think it was 80 after the South America gigs in 2006. Can't be arsed working it out but I'm sure that was the number when I did it in my head on a long distance flight some time.

1987 - Sheffield Roxy 1989 - Reading Festival 1991 - Heaton Park (Revenge & Electronic) 199? - Monaco in London 1998 - Ally Pally 2001 - Brixton Academy 2005 - Brixton Academy 2005 - Peel Day 2006 - Wembley 2009 - Heaven (BL)

Well lets see...

Parents didn't want me to go to concerts, so had to I was ripe enough to drive

  1. Bought tickets to the Republic tour in Los Angeles... but my GF at the time dumped me and took a friend

  2. Bought tickets to the Get Ready tour (I think it they were going to be in Atlanta?)... got called away on some damn training exercise in the Marine Corps

  3. For the WFTSC tour they were nice enough to show up in San Diego, THREE days after I left for Iraq.

  4. Bought Bad Lieutenant tickets in San Fran, but a nice volcano stopped that and they never rescheduled.

  5. Actually SAW the Light last year AND this year in Hollywood

So what was the point of this thread... just to piss me off!!!??? :mad4::chainsaw:

Less than pompeyorder then? :uhoh:

Mine's back to 86. I've got 19 gigs listed for 2005 in my workbook in front of me here in the office but I've checked and it was just the 18. I think you must've done the 19 cos you did that Swedey gig as well (gig too far for me, given that it was a Thursday night and in the middle of nowhere).

36 to date. Was sure it's more, but the memory is fading!Still it'll be 38 after Brussels and Paris.

Best - Royal Festival Hall, London 1984. 1st time I heard NO play Decades. Also managed to get a mention on bootleg as Barney thought I was a photographer!

Most memorable - Michael Sobell Centre 1985 - managed to blag way backstage and got record collection signed - Hooky surprisingly Friendly, Stephen surprisingly not!

So you didn't get pissed, wander off and get lost at Hyde Park? You just decided it wasn't worth attending!

Being a lazy arsed Geography student I took every opportunity to travel up and down the country seeing them during the mid 80s heyday period, sleeping in railway stations, kipping on floors. Even went to Reading 98 2 days after the first Dawson junior was born. Selected highlights below.

Brixton Academy (Dec 83) – 16 years old, only been to 2 gigs before, and here I was at my first NO gig (and a post-PCL London showcase to boot). Five of us squashed into my brother’s girlfriend’s Fiat 500 (immediately christened the Fiat Fartbox). The gig has gone down in history as “a crap one” but for me how could it be, it was the 1st time I’d seen my favourite band. And they pushed the roadie on stage to sing the encore (encore!) of the infamous Blue Monday/Love Reaction.

Bradford Caesars (Mar 84) – went from Norfolk to Bradford on a National Express coach which took 5 days. The gig was only doable because I had an Aunt who lived within walking distance of Caesars. For those who weren’t there, it was an absolute belter. I’m getting goose pimples just thinking about it. What can I say; the EGG/Temptation/586 medley, Face Up, 2 encores.

And I did the 84 Summer UK tour hitching round the country and sleeping rough, but that’s another story for another day.

Wolverhampton was number 33 (glad we’ve established we’re counting Big World Café). Let’s not forget the people; most gigs were attended by a combination of Neil, Tranny and brother Andrew, cheers boys, happy memories!

Oh, best gig ever? Well, there are two kinds of people in life; those that went to Sheffield Roxy and those that didn’t. Mad, absolutely mad.

6 plus 1 Hooky DJ set and 1 The Light. The John Peel Day was the one that felt like an "event" and Ally Pally was the best atmosphere.

Sadly only once - Fuji Rock 2001 - and it wasn't even proper New Order, Corgan was there noodling on his guitar and wearing an annoying beanie. It was a great gig but - lots of gen-Xers like me getting a real buzz out of seeing them (albeit dilute and Gillian-less). I think New Order toured NZ three times in the 80s - unfortunately i was only 13 the last time they came to Wellington in 1986(?) and was stil thrashing my Michael Jackson and Duran Duran tapes...it wasn't until I listened to my cousin's 12 inches of Blue Monday and Confusion later that year that my musical world started opening up. I remember how cool I felt buying Substance

around 20 something. used to be able to reel them off in order. However, first gig Manchester The Ritz and I still have the ticket with a factory stamp on the back. When tickets were art...

saw them primarily around the North West since I was at 6th Form in Eccles. Then around London and the south when I went to university and the midlands sometimes. Then recent times where I could, Blackpool, Liverpool, T in the Park.

Notables were probably earlier gigs, Tower Ballroom, Heaven at Charing Cross (hooky putting a pair of knickers on barney's guitar), Hacienda, benefit gigs for earthquake victims at London Poly, Aids, the miners at the Festival Hall. DIG DEEP. Festival of the 10th Summer. Brixton Academy, Margate, Bradford, Blackburn, Sobell Sports Centre (got drumstick and autographs spoke to Rob), WOMAD, Hammersmith Palais, NEC, Old Trafford MOVE festival, MEN (JD set)I did post old ticket stubbs on here ages ago. Plenty, and none whatsoever which did not include Gillian or Hooky.

No doubt, in ten years time, some of you will 'count' a one man Barney show with his teeth in a glass on bass, as long as the name 'New Order' is attached to it.

I forgot about that Scala gig. I do remember Keith Allen being in the audience and seemed to be absolutely tiny.

Also forgot the Ritz gig, which was actually a good day out all round. David Nolan was drinking with us before the gig.

In hindsight I'm amazed many people made it to that gig. It was Arcade Fire the night before and I remember meeting up with a load of people afterwards and everyone was twatted. I was fine if I recall. Shit gig though.

this is a brilliant thread to bring back/share some of the memories

So somewhere in the mid 30s - starting with Caesars Palace Bradford in '84 and ending or so I thought in Wolverhampton Civic Hall, until next week , even 'tho my ticket got nicked in the post (another one is waiting for me according to the nice AB people).

Highlights

The first one at Bradford - blinding and the last one courtesy of the Wolverhapton Civic's two pint glasses, see what L'ancienne belgique offers up on Monday week

Woolwich Coronet and 2 Danish girls - do the ostrich and all got all of it on tape somewhere, Phil Collerton where are you??

Malvern Winter Gardens supported by a very young Happy Mondays, ended up sitting on stage next to Hook's bass monitor until politely (!) asked to get off

Music for Miners - in Royal Festival Hall supported by Keith Allen doing his northern industrial gay character and elderly stewards - average age about 70 - trying and failing to stop everyone legging it down the front

Polytechnic of Central London - in the canteen I think - they played atmosphere and my very short girl friend of the time couldn't see so the sound crew let her stand on the mixing desk table so she could

Tower Ballroom in Brum possibly twice - I remember plastic palm trees and a boating lake and great performances

Peace Together gig in Dublin after one of their very long breaks apart - eventually a great gig although think first song started and then stopped - Regret?

God I feel old.
